We see farther

What are we all about?

We’re engineers (civil, environmental, geotechnical, structural), surveyors, scientists, and GIS professionals.

We help our clients see farther, because we care about our communities and our environment and about you. We’re in this together. We think it is important to do what’s best in the long-run and we think it pays off to plan ahead.

At P&N, our work is in the details. We take the time to get it right the first time – alerting you to stumbling blocks that could derail your project. We believe roads, buildings, and systems work the best and last the longest when we see the big picture and have the same person oversee a project from start to finish. We keep our promises and our budgets – a good relationship with you is worth it.

That’s been our foundation for over 45 years. We’re honored to walk beside you and thrilled when you give us an opportunity to make a positive difference in your world.

  • P&N is very receptive to customer input. I have been extremely pleased with their dedication and timeliness. They have made my position much easier in relation to ongoing projects and long-term goals. They are always there to find answers to any question I may have, no matter how trivial. Their timeliness in getting answers has been impeccable.

Peter Kelly Former Manager Oceana County Airport
  • We have been working with P&N for more than 30 years; we know what to expect. Whether we need structural, civil, or soil boring services, P&N has it all. Plus, I like all the people I work with there.

Neale Baumann President The Design Forum
  • Prein&Newhof has done our wastewater engineering exclusively since 1993. Their integrity, creativity, efficiency, communications, and cost-saving ideas have greatly benefited the County during these years. I trust them to represent our interests in design and construction supervision work.

Dave Kendrick Former Department of Public Works Director Muskegon County
  • Prein&Newhof was very helpful with our Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant application for a regional bike path. They provided  clear and concise information on a timely basis, which was essential for grant approval. Their staff has tremendous knowledge and experience that makes Prein&Newhof a one-stop shop for municipal engineering services.

Lukas Hill Community Development Director Spring Lake Township
  • The team was top-notch. They have tons of experience dealing not only with municipal clients, but with state and federal bureaucracies. For infrastructure, Prein&Newhof’s the best game in town.

John French Former Manager City of Montague
  • I enjoy working with all of the people at P&N. They provide good quality work and go out of their way to make sure we’re satisfied. They also have a good diversity of staff to draw upon. When the engineer I’m working with doesn’t have the answers, they’ll bring in someone who does.

Pat Staskiewicz, PE Public Utilities Engineer Ottawa County Road Commission
  • We have found Prein&Newhof to be attentive to our concerns and needs, willing to work with the public without compromising the integrity of the project, and swift to address any problems or issues encountered in the field.

Jim Murphy Project Engineer City of Norton Shores
  • Prein&Newhof is a team of professionals that constantly impress. Not only do I trust their engineering skills, they build great relationships. They follow up, they do what they say they’re going to do, and they produce.

Dan Van Dyke Former Director Byron-Gaines Utility Authority
  • Over the last 10 years, on no less than 30 different projects, the P&N team has managed to add a lot of value to our projects with their customer–oriented attitude and multi–disciplined team approach. It’s been very helpful to have one source to go to for our wide variety of civil engineering needs.  P&N is always there to help us explore a concept or get a drawing done so we can close a deal.

David Smith President Midlink Business Park
  • Your dedication and work ethic seem to exemplify your belief that engineers serve the public. You have rushed out to provide assistance whenever your expertise is needed. You are a valuable asset to our team at the City of Walker.

Scott Conners, PE City Engineer City of Walker
  • I’ve been working with P&N for more than 20 years now and I have been impressed that they are always willing to do what needs to be done—they are right there in the trenches with us. They are very professional. They do everything by the book, but they listen to suggestions and are able to see the practical view point. Even if we have differing view points, we always come to a common solution and have never argued about anything.

Kevin Vink Mortgage Consultant Raustin Mortgage
  • P&N didn’t just see the technical side, they saw the big picture – our residents, our time line, our budget. If it was important to us, it was important to them.

Michael Young Former Chairman North Kent Sewer Authority
  • Throughout all of the projects P&N has completed for us, their staff has shown a high level of character and professional competence. They work cooperatively with our staff and are able to communicate a technical issue in a way that a non-engineer can understand. Their record for staying on budget and on time is exceptional. P&N provides a high level of technical expertise to each and every assignment.

Thomas Ecklund, PE Engineering & Facilities Director Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority
  • We’re getting a state-of-the-art water treatment facility for a fraction of its value and a much-improved site; Prein&Newhof is to be commended for working with us to get the federal funding and making this a reality.

Ray Berkin Former Water Treatment Plant Superintendent City of Allegan
  • P&N has a great reputation with municipalities and that’s huge for us, plus they work in the private sector. To be able to do both of those is quite special. The level of accuracy and the details on P&N’s plans are excellent and the quality of people we work with are top-notch. They take a common sense approach and are very fair and balanced when representing multiple parties.

    Craig Baker President First Companies
  • P&N took our trail project from conception to completion. Any time a problem would arise, all it took was a phone call to the Project Manager to get it resolved. He had a good relationship with the contractor, MDOT, and the DEQ. He was able to save us a substantial amount of money by negotiating with these agencies for a less-expensive way to resolve issues.

Bonnie Shupe Blackledge Former Clerk Cannon Township
  • From a small plan review to a large drainage project, Prein&Newhof has the expertise to provide the right solutions. We enjoy our relationship with their team; they are very responsive and professional.

Paul Geerlings Former Ottawa County Drain Commissioner
  • P&N has been instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining a GIS system for our township. Their GIS team has always been quick to respond to both technical difficulties and new data development. We credit the expertise of the P&N staff with building the vibrant geographic information system used every day by our staff and public.

Jon Mersman Community Development Director Holland Charter Township
  • Would I recommend Prein&Newhof? Without a doubt. They take their work seriously, and they take a personal interest in the project. Getting it done right was as important to them as it was to the airport and the community.

Marty Piette Former Manager Muskegon County Airport
  • I’ve been working with Prein&Newhof for more than 20 years. I continue to recommend them to others because they are consistent, on time, on budget and their pricing is competitive. If I have any issue, they are quick and professional in helping to resolve it. I rely on their Lab because I know they will ‘Get it done.’

Don Popma Operations Director Synagro Central, LLC
  • I appreciate the P&N people; they’re professional, personable, clear and to the point. They double– and triple–check to make sure we get the end product we’re looking for. You ask for it, you get it.
