Duties include providing high quality hydraulic engineering services for internal and external clients while supporting and learning from the Senior Hydraulic Engineer.
Essential Responsibilities
- Complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses; water quality analysis; storm drainage design; low impact development design; irrigation ditch, pipe and structure design; and culvert design.
- Prepare reports for internal and external clients.
- Assume control of work-in-process, coordinating the timely completion of projects with assistance from the Senior Hydraulic Engineer.
Working Conditions and Environment
The Hydraulic Engineer works both in the office and out in the field. He/she may travel to worksites. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate in the office, and moderate to loud in the field. He/she must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities are required by this job and include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Use of computers is necessary to carry out work assignments.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with GIS
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM
- Experience with Water Distribution System Models; WaterGEMS, InfoWater, etc.
Education and Experience
Minimum: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Preferred: Bachelors degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field with hydraulics emphasis and 2+ years of progressively responsible experience
