Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center - Pump Station L & Force Main Replacement

Important Information

The Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center is replacing a wastewater pump station and force main located in Sherman Boulevard between Temple Street and Park Street. The project will include temporary closure of westbound Sherman Boulevard and Temple Street.

The contractor, Jackson-Merkey Contractors, plans to begin work in April 2025 and complete the project by November 2025.

Access/Traffic:

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.

Local business access will be maintained and coordinated with the contractor.

There may be times when access will be limited to your business during construction activities. Contractor to coordinate alternate parking locations.

Detour routes are shown in the map at the top of the page.

Mail:

Temporary mailbox location may be installed. Contractor will coordinate with local businesses.

Garbage Pickup:

Contractor will be responsible for coordinating with waste haulers to allow continued pickup service during construction, and will transport local business waste containers to and from a centralized location as necessary.

Progress Report:

  • Closure of westbound Sherman Boulevard was delayed this week due to an emergency force main repair.

Upcoming Work:

  • Road closures are now scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, with installation of the casing underneath the railroad beginning Thursday.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Jackson-Merkey Contractors will be closing westbound Sherman Boulevard between Temple and Park on Wednesday, April 9.
  • They will begin field verifying existing utility locations and begin partial road removal and preparations for the bore and jack underneath the railroad.
  • The bore and jack is scheduled for the week of April 14.
