Important Information

Construction Scope

Roadwork: Removal of the road surface on Sleepy Hollow Lane, Tarry Town Road, and Sand Hollow Drive.

Storm Sewer: Excavation to replace existing corrugated plastic storm sewers and underdrain with new storm sewer.

Sump Lines: New sump discharge lateral piping will be installed to the right-of-way line. The contractor will reconnect your existing pipe. (Note: sump discharge lateral piping from the right-of-way line to the house is the responsibility of the homeowner).

Yards and Landscaping

Irrigation and Underground Dog Fence: Please mark your irrigation and underground dog fence in your yard with marker flags prior to construction. The Contractor will repair/replace damaged lines from construction but this would be much simpler if marked ahead of time.

Landscaping/Yards: Portions of yards will be damaged during construction to allow at minimum one lane of traffic through construction. Properties will be reseeded at the end of construction but property owners must participate in watering/maintaining new grass seed to ensure grass growth occurs.

Access/Traffic

Road Access: At least one lane of traffic will remain open throughout construction, though access may be limited at times. Asphalt paving will also limit access but a letter will be provided notifying property owners of when paving is anticipated to occur (weather dependent).

Driveways: You may temporarily lose driveway access when work is directly in front of your property, but you will not be left without access overnight.

Concrete Curing Time: If a portion of your driveway is replaced, access will be restricted longer while the concrete cures.

Mail: Temporary mailboxes will be set up on Mason Street. Amazon and other delivery drivers will continue having access for neighborhood deliveries.

Garbage Pickup: Standard waste service will continue. On pick-up days, please place your bins in an accessible location clear of construction.

July 17, 2026

Progress Report:

After milling the road and getting pipe/materials the week of July 6-10, Cutting Edge Excavating (contractor) was able to start in earnest and work their way east and south along Sand Hollow Drive. The contractor put in several storm laterals (sump lines) along with installing storm sewer around half way down Sand Hollow Drive between the driveways of 642 and 639 Sand Hollow Drive.

Upcoming Work:

The Contractor plans on continuing to install storm sewer and laterals down Sand Hollow Drive to the easement area between 611 Sand Hollow Drive and 608/590 Sleepy Hollow Lane and start installing storm sewer in the easement area. It is possible the Contractor is also able to get into Sleepy Hollow Lane.

Note: 

Cutting Edge was able to use a water truck to brine the gravel on Wednesday. Cutting Edge is also working to repair sprinkling lines as they are damaged so please inform us if there is an issue with your sprinkling line after we have installed in front of your home.

To maintain traffic around the trench, it will be necessary at times to drive up into the grass to safely pass the jobsite. All disturbed areas of lawns will be regraded and reseeded as necessary.

July 13, 2026

Progress Report:

Work has begun this week starting at the northern end of the neighborhood on Sleepy Hollow Lane, with old plastic storm sewer being removed and new concrete storm sewer put in place. New storm structures (manholes and catch basins) are being installed as well, as are new sump pump discharge lines which will connect into the new concrete storm sewer.

Upcoming Work:

For this week, work will continue south down Sand Hollow Drive as the contractor, Cutting Edge, lays pipe upstream.

Note:

Cutting Edge is providing a water truck to spray water on the gravel roadway to keep dust down. They will be applying water to the roadway periodically as dust control.

To maintain traffic around the trench, it will be necessary at times to drive up into the grass to safely pass the jobsite. All disturbed areas of lawns will be regraded and reseeded as necessary.

July 9, 2026

Progress Report:

Work began on Monday (7/6) morning with asphalt removal on Sleepy Hollow Lane and Sand Hollow Drive. The contractor, Cutting Edge Excavating, has been hydro-excavating to locate utilities such as water main, water services, gas services, and underground electrical and fiber optic lines. Locating these utilities verifies their location and depth so that the excavators can operate without damaging these utilities.

Materials such as concrete pipe are being delivered and stored on the east end of Tarry Town Road. This area will be used by Cutting Edge as an area to store equipment and materials during the project.

Temporary mailboxes have been constructed at Mason Street.

Upcoming Work:

  • Asphalt removal will continue with the remainder Sleepy Hollow Lane and the western portion of Tarry Town Road.
  • Hydro-excavating for utilities will continue through the week, and materials will continue being delivered.
