City of East Grand Rapids - Sidewalk Improvements for Cascade & Robinson

Project Information

The City of East Grand Rapids is extending their sidewalk connectivity along Robinson Road and Cascade Road with the help of a Federally Funded TAP Grant. This project will consist of 1.8 miles of sidewalk construction and restoration along with retaining walls and storm sewer.

Access/Traffic:

Access to mailboxes, driveways, and existing areas will remain throughout the project. Once new driveways are installed there will be a 7-day curing period where temporary or staggered driveways will be provided. Communication to each homeowner regarding the specifics of each driveway will be communicated with advanced notice.

Progress Report:

This week, Brenner Excavating successfully completed the remaining storm sewer installations along Cascade Road. In addition, sidewalk removal and preparation activities were finalized along Cascade, extending to Robinson Road. T&D Concrete mobilized on site and began pouring new sidewalk in prepared sections along Cascade.

Upcoming Work:

Looking ahead, Brenner Excavating will continue grading operations for new sidewalk installation along Robinson Street, progressing westward from Cascade Road. Concurrently, crews will begin removing existing sidewalk ramps and begin grading work in preparation for the installation of ADA-compliant ramps along Cascade Road.

T&D Concrete may return to the site next week to continue concrete sidewalk pours along Cascade, as scheduling and site conditions allow.

Extra Notes:

We appreciate the community’s continued patience and cooperation as we work to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall infrastructure in the area.

Progress Report: Last week, the contractor focused on the installation of new storm structures and removal of existing, outdated infrastructure. New storm structures were successfully installed at 5 of the 8 designated locations. Additionally, progress continued on topsoil stripping and grading in preparation for new sidewalk construction along Cascade.

Upcoming Work: This week, the contractor is scheduled to complete the remaining storm structure installations. Work will also continue stripping topsoil and grading along Cascade, moving west toward Robinson in preparation for continued sidewalk construction.
