Benton Charter Township - Dixie Drive Water & Wastewater System Improvements

Progress Report:

All of the sanitary sewer installation on the project, including lateral services to property lines, has been constructed!

All of the water main on Dixie Drive, including water services to property lines, has been constructed! The water main on Dixie Drive has also passed the pressure and chlorination tests.

Upcoming Work:

Road restoration on Dixie Drive will begin this week and continue over the next couple of weeks.

Water service installation and plumbing work on Mary’s City of David property will continue over the next couple of weeks.

Progress Report:

Approximately 1,100 feet of the planned 1,250 feet of sanitary sewer has been installed on Dixie Drive. Lateral services have been replaced from the mainline sewer to the property line on all but 2 properties.

Approximately 90% of the mainline water main on Dixie Drive has been installed. The tie in to the existing water main at the intersection of Empire Ave and Dixie Drive has also occurred after the new water main passed the pressure and chlorination tests.

Upcoming Work:

Sanitary sewer installation is planned for completion by the end of the week.

Water main installation is planned for completion along Dixie Drive by the end of the week, after which water service installation will begin.

Progress Report:

Approximately 750 feet of sanitary sewer has been installed on Dixie Drive. Lateral services have been replaced from the mainline sewer to the property line at 9 residences.

Approximately 500 feet of water main has been installed on Dixie Drive.

The intersection of Empire Ave and Dixie Drive has been paved and is now open to thru traffic.

Upcoming Work:

Sanitary sewer installation will continue over the next several weeks. Once the sanitary sewer has been completed, progress on water main construction will resume.

Approximately 500 feet of sanitary sewer has been installed on Dixie Drive. Lateral services have been replaced from the mainline sewer to the property line at 5 residences.

Up Next: Water main installation has started today and will continue through the end of this week. Approximately 500 feet of water main will be installed before progress continues on the sanitary sewer installation. Paving at the intersection of Empire Ave and Dixie Drive is anticipated to occur next Tuesday, August 13.

Progress Report:

Construction on the Dixie Drive Water & Wastewater System Improvements project has begun! The road has been milled and equipment has been mobilized to the site. Temporary mailboxes have been set up near the intersection of Empire Ave and Dixie Drive for residents to continue to receive mail. Dewatering has been installed to lower the water table and allow utility installation.

Upcoming Work:

Sanitary sewer installation will start Monday (7/15) at the intersection of Empire Ave and Dixie Drive and will be installed north down Dixie Drive.

Extra Notes:

As a reminder, Dixie Drive will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. A graded level surface will be restored by 6:00 pm daily for overnight and weekend access. Residents who need vehicle access during working hours are strongly encouraged to park their vehicles outside of the project limits as Dixie Drive will not be accessible for vehicles during construction working hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Parking is available at the nursing home parking lot at 1385 E. Empire Ave.
