The GRSD Sewer Authority is installing a new sanitary sewer along Red Arrow Highway between Union Pier Road and Berrien Street. The Sewer Authority is also replacing existing sanitary sewer in Townline Avenue between Greenwood Avenue and Red Arrow Highway.

GRSD Sewer Authority – Union Pier Relief Sewer

Work completed the past week:

  • Manhole #12 installed.
  • Sanitary sewer installation completed.
  • Sewer meter in Union Pier intersection installed.

Summary of activities expected for the remainder of the month:

  • Complete electrical and integration work related to the meter.
  • Acceptance testing of the sanitary sewer force main.
  • Work on remaining punch list items.

 

Manhole #12 Installation

Work completed the past week:

  • 36-inch sanitary sewer installation completed.
  • Northbound lane of Red Arrow Highway partially reconstructed.
 

Summary of activities expected for next week (October 12 – 16):

  • Install Manhole #12 (the last sanitary structure!)
  • Connect new sanitary sewer to existing wastewater system.
  • Work will require temporarily pumping wastewater around the work area. Road closures on Streed, Nannene, and Berrien at Red Arrow Highway, and on Isobel at Berrien Street will be required to perform the temporary bypass. Flyers and notifications have been sent out regarding the work.

Work completed the past week:

  • Approximately 50 feet of 48-inch sanitary sewer installed and air tested.
  • Manholes #10 and #11 installed.
  • Approximately 300′ of 36″ sanitary sewer installed.
  • Began grading northbound lane of Red Arrow Highway and installing aggregate base.

 

Summary of activities expected for next week (October 5 – 10):

  • Complete 36-inch sanitary sewer installation.
  • Pave first layer of asphalt on northbound lane of Red Arrow Highway.

 

Work completed the past week includes:

  • Approximately 500 feet of 4-inch sanitary sewer installed and air tested.

 

Below is a summary of activities expected for next week (9/28 – 10/03):

  • Complete 48-inch sanitary sewer installation.
  • Install Manhole #10.
  • Commence 36″ sanitary sewer installation in Red Arrow Highway.
  • Begin reconstruction of northbound lane of Red Arrow Highway.

 

48" Sanitary Sewer Installation

Work completed the past two weeks:

  • Approximately 550 feet of 48-inch sanitary sewer installed and air tested.
  • Manhole #8 installed.

  • Continue 48-inch sanitary sewer installation.
