Important Information

The City of Ludington is reconstructing Loomis Street from Rath Avenue to Delia Street. This includes: complete pavement removal and replacement, water main/water services replacement, sanitary sewer replacement, and new street lighting.

City of Ludington – Loomis Street Reconstruction

This was an interesting week for construction with all of the rain, however, progress was made! Final paving is complete and the road will be open once the weather corporates and the pavement markings can be placed.

 

Work Completed this Week (September 28 – October 2)

  • Hallack Contracting topsoil spreading and the all areas were seeded.
  • Reith-Riley paved the final course of pavement.
  • J Ranck installed the new street lighting.

 

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Final pavement markings.
  • Permanent signing and removal of all temporary signage and barricades.

The end is in sight! This past week was a very busy week with installation of curb and gutter, sidewalk, and drive approaches.  The first course of pavement is scheduled for this coming Saturday, September 26.  Next week will consist of topsoil, adjusting structures, permanent sign installation and the top course of pavement.  If all goes well the road will be open to traffic by the end of next week.


Work Completed This Week (September 21 to September 25)

  • Concrete curb and gutter was installed as well as all sidewalk ramps, drive approaches and sidewalks.
  • Hallack prepared the aggregate in preparation of paving.


Anticipated Work This Week

  • Installation of permanent signs and possibly pavement markings.
  • Topsoil will be spread.
  • Installation of street lights.
  • Final course of pavement.

Hallack Contracting spent last week preparing the roadway for concrete and cleaning up the site.  Next week will consist of concrete curb installation.  

Work Completed Last Week (September 14 – 18)

  • Hallack Contracting spread aggregate in preparation of concrete curb.
  • Hallack cleaned up debris from underground work and removed some additional concrete sidewalk.
  • Hallack completed final testing of the sanitary sewer.
 

Anticipated Work This Week

  • Installation of concrete curb and gutter and some sidewalk and drive approaches.
  • Prepare for paving of the roadway with possible paving of the first course at the end of the week.
Hallack Contracting spent last week finishing the underground work.  Starting this week the focus will be on rebuilding the roadway.  

Work Completed Last Week (September 7 – 11)

  • Hallack Contracting completed the water main connections at Rowe and Delia Streets and abandoned the old water main.
  • Hallack completed all remaining water services.
  • Hallack completed all remaining storm sewer work.
  • J Ranck worked on installation of conduit and the control panel for the new street lighting between Rath Avenue and Harrison Street.
 

Anticipated Work This Week

  • Preparation of sand grade and installation of aggregate base.
  • Concrete curb and gutter will be started at the end of the week.v
Hallack Contracting spent this week working on water services. this area will start looking like a road again very soon.  

Work Completed This Week (August 31 – September 4)

  • Hallack Contracting completed the water main connection at James Street to make the new water main live.
  • 90% of the water services were completed. This included connections up in to the residences.
 

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • The last remaining water services will be installed early in the week.
  • The new water main will be connected to the City’s water system at Rowe and at Delia. This work will require a shut down of the water main on Loomis, east of Delia and potentially some other side streets during the day. Notice will be provided to the affected customers.
  • Storm sewer catch basins may be installed at the end of the week.
Hallack Contracting spent this week finishing the install and testing of the water main and began installing storm sewer.

Work Completed This Week (August 24 – 28)

  • Hallack Contracting completed the water main main line installation.
  • Hallack completed testing of the water main.
  • Hallack started storm sewer construction.
 

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Following the final passing of bacteria testing, the water main will be connected to the existing system.
  • Water services will start to be installed towards the end of the week.
  • There will be temporary water shut-offs at times to complete connections and water services. You will be notified if you will be affected by this.
Hallack Contracting spent this week installing water main between James and Delia.  Water main installation has gone very well and completion of the mainline is expected early next week.  

Work Completed This Week (August 17 – 21)

  • Hallack Contracting started water main installation at James and have made it almost to the Delia intersection
 

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Water main installation will be completed early in the week followed by pressure testing and chlorination of the water main.
  • During testing of the water main storm, sewer improvements such as new catch basins will be completed.
  • There is a possibility near the end of the week that preparations will be made to connect the new water main to the water system allowing for services to be replaced.
Hallack Contracting spent this week installing sanitary sewer between Rowe and Delia. Utility work will continue for the next few weeks.  

Work Completed This Week (August 3 – 7)

  • Hallack Contracting worked on sanitary sewer between Rowe and Delia.
  • Hallack and City crews worked to verify some outstanding sanitary sewer questions to make sure every building is connected.
 

Anticipated Work Next Week (August 10 – 14)

  • Work will focus on completing the sanitary sewer up to Delia.
  • Water main installation will begin starting at James Street and working east.
Hallack Contracting spent this week installing sanitary sewer east of James Street. Utility work will continue for the next few weeks.  

Work Completed This Week (July 20 – 24)

  • Hallack Contracting completed the sanitary sewer from James Street to Harrison Street
  • Hallack and City crews worked to verify sewer and water service locations.
 

Anticipated Work Next Week (July 27 – 31)

  • Work will focus on installing sanitary sewer from Harrison Street to Delia Street.
  • Signage from Rath Avenue to James Street may be completed.
Another very hot and yet productive week on the project.  Road reconstruction was in full swing in the block between Rath and James.  

Work Completed This Week (July 6 – 11)

  • Hallack Contracting completed installation of remaining storm sewer in Rath Avenue.
  • Curb and gutter was placed from Rath Avenue to James Street.
  • Sidewalk and drives were placed from Rath Avenue to James Street.
 

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Sidewalk will be completed from Rath Avenue to James Street with a few gaps left for light pole installation.
  • Aggregate will be fine graded and prepared for pavement.
  • Leveling course (1st course) of pavement is expected mid-week between Rath Avenue and James Street with the top course possibly by the end of the week.
  • Hallack Contracting may begin work east of James Street by weeks end.
