The Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center (MCRRC) is replacing approximately 7,000 ft of aging sanitary sewer pipelines within an easement north of Oakhurst Cemetery, along Peterson Road, and within Colby Street/Holton Whitehall Road during the 2023 construction season. The replacement pipeline will be located on the east side of Peterson, and on the south side of Colby Street. This work will be completed by Kamminga & Roodvoets (K&R), a local Grand Rapids-based contracting firm.
Prior to construction, trees within the public road rights-of-way and easements will be cleared as necessary and some exploratory excavation may occur. K&R anticipates starting sanitary sewer construction later in the summer. The work will be completed by November 2023.
Sewer construction will take place within the road and therefore traffic within Peterson Road and Colby Street will be impacted. Access to businesses may be temporarily restricted as sewer construction progresses down Colby Street. K&R will coordinate temporary closures in advance and restore drives as soon as possible. Additional traffic impact/closure information will be provided later.
