Current Status/Progress Report

Plainfield Charter Township has coordinated with the Kent County Road Commission (KCRC) to include the water main construction along 10 Mile Road, between Jewell Avenue and Pine Island Drive, with the KCRC road reconstruction project between Algoma Avenue to Pine Island Drive. Brenner Excavating Inc. (BEI) of Hopkins, MI has been awarded the construction contract and will complete the water main installation and road work. This water main project is designed to support the recent municipal water system extensions west of US-131 and connect homes that have been affected by PFAS contamination. The road project is designed to upgrade 10 Mile Road to an All Seasons road.

Prior to construction, trees within the public road rights-of-way and easements will be cleared as necessary. Tree clearing is scheduled to begin the last week of March. BEI will start water main construction the first week of April. 10 Mile Road will be closed to thru traffic from April to early August. The BEI contract will construct the water main along the road and short water service stubs toward each house. You will receive more information regarding how to connect your water service from the stub into your house at a later date.

Water main will be installed along the north side of 10 Mile Road. There will be short periods of time when water main is being installed in front of your house and your driveway will be inaccessible. BEI will work to restore driveways as soon as possible during the day and will ensure that all driveways are accessible by the end of the workday. Caution is advised while driving through the project area. For the safety of all residents and construction crews, we ask that residents stay out of the construction area and be aware of construction equipment moving throughout the project area.

Please contact any project representative if you have questions or concerns.
