Plainfield Charter Township is extending its water system to provide municipal water to residents affected by PFAS contamination. 16-inch water main will be installed along Chandler Drive from Shining Tree Drive to Herrington Avenue, then along Herrington Avenue from Chandler Drive north to the cul-de-sac at US-131. It will also include construction of a 16-inch water main through two private easements west of Herrington Avenue and crossing under US-131 near the median turnaround.

Progress Report

As of October 21, fifty-three (53) houses (93%) have now connected to the municipal water system (see project map above). Water service quotation forms have been received for all but one of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet made arrangements with a contractor to complete the private water service work, they must do so immediately. All houses are currently past the 60-day requirement for connection to the municipal water system.

About forty-two (42) houses (77%) have now connected to the municipal water system (see project map above). Water service quotation forms have been received for all but one of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet made arrangements with a contractor to complete the private water service work, they must do so immediately.

About thirty houses (51%) have now connected to the municipal water system (see project map above). Water service quotation forms have been received for about 95% of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. The final portions of the paving will be completed today, August 7.

Dykema continues to work on restoration by fine grading ditch lines, spreading topsoil, cleaning up wash outs and preparing to do a final seeding of the lawns and roadside areas.

A total of sixteen (16) houses have now connected to the municipal water system (see project map above). Water service quotation forms have been received for about 91% of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet made arrangements with a contractor to complete the private water service work, they must do so as soon as possible. Some residents are already half-way through their 60-day time window.

Dykema finished installing water services along Herrington Avenue this week. This marks the completion of all water main and water service stub installation for the project. Dykema continues to work on restoration by fine grading ditch lines, spreading topsoil, and preparing to seed the lawns and roadside areas. Dykema also has started to complete concrete and gravel driveway restoration and is working on preparing the asphalt driveways for final paving. A total of 6 houses have now connected to the municipal water system (see project map above). Water service quotation forms have been received for about 90% of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet made arrangements with a contractor to complete the private water service work, they must do so as soon as possible. Some residents are already half-way through their 60-day time window.

Dykema continued installing water services on Herrington Avenue this week and continued to pressure test and disinfect more sections of water main. Water service installation is complete to around Rolling Meadow Drive and Dykema is testing the last section of water main on the north end of Herrington Avenue so water service installation can continue. Dykema has started to spread topsoil along Chandler Drive north of Shining Tree Drive. Once a decent portion of topsoil has been spread, Dykema will come back and spread seed, fertilizer, and mulch to finish the lawn restoration. Water service quotation forms have been received for about 85% of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet talked to a contractor about installing their private water service, they should do so ASAP in order to meet the 60-day connection requirement. A total of three (3) houses were connected to the municipal water system this week (see project map above).

  • Dykema will continue to pressure test and disinfect the last section of water main in the easement and crossing US-131. Dykema will finish installing water services along the north end of Herrington.

Water service installation and testing is working from south to north along Herrington Avenue. Today, June 26, the base course of asphalt pavement will be placed on Chandler Drive. This will leave the new pavement about 1.5 inches lower than the existing pavement. The top course of asphalt will be placed later. Dykema has experienced some delays with the water main testing process for the water main along Herrington at Chandler Drive. This has required extra flushing of the main and has delayed the installation of water service stubs along Herrington. The testing and water sampling will continue through this coming weekend. Water service quotation forms have been received for about 85% of the houses along Chandler and Herrington. If residents have not yet talked to a contractor about installing the private water service, they should do so ASAP in order to meet the 60-day connection requirement.

Dykema continued installing water service stubs along Chandler Drive. Residents will be notified by letter when they may begin connecting to the municipal system. Dykema also worked on reconstructing the road pavement in Chandler Drive. A milling machine removed old asphalt, and areas were prepared for paving. We will notify you as soon as we have a schedule for paving from Dykema.

Dykema is scheduled to complete the two water main crossings of Herrington Ave. on Thursday and Friday this week (June 11 and 12). Once these crossings are complete, all the water main in this contract will have been installed: about 8,900 feet of 16-inch and 450 feet of 8-inch water main.

Dykema has been working on installing water services along Chandler Drive. After this week, they will have all the services installed on the north/south portion of Chandler, and residents can start connecting to the municipal system.

Dykema also completed lawn restoration in the US-131 median.
