This project is designed to extend the municipal water system and connect homes that have been affected by PFAS contamination; it is also needed to provide looping in the Water System’s Intermediate Pressure District.

There will be times that the area in front of your homes is torn up and you will have limited access to your home. Please let us know if you have any special access needs and we will do our best to make arrangements with you.

The contractor will be contacting you to make arrangements for mail delivery and garbage collection. Please let us know if you have any problems with this.

Plainfield Township – Water System Extension: Packer Drive

Progress Report

On April 26, 2021, the Plainfield Charter Township Board of Trustees awarded the water main construction contract to Dean’s Landscaping and Excavating of Sand Lake, Michigan. Dean’s has indicated that they intend to start construction in August 2021, and they plan to complete the water main and water services along Packer Drive and Van Dam Drive by October 2021. Construction of the side street water main and water services is scheduled for spring of 2022. Under Dean’s contract, they will construct the water main along the road and short water service stubs toward each house. Prior to the water main being installed, trees within the public road rights-of-way and easements will be cleared as necessary.

 What to Expect

  • August 2021
    • Water main construction will begin on Packer Drive at Las Vegas Drive.
  • Long-Term
    • Water main and water services along Packer Drive and Van Dam Drive will be installed in 2021.
    • Water main and water services along side streets and private drives off of Packer Drive will be installed in the spring of 2022.

Progress Report

This project is under final design, and we continue to work through the permitting process with the State of Michigan. We plan to advertise the project for bidding in late March and open bids in late April. At that time, contract award will be considered by the Township Board, with construction to commence thereafter.

For the duration of this construction project, we will provide regular updates that will inform you of what is currently happening and what you can expect to see in the future, including water main construction, traffic control, project safety, access to homes, etc.
