City of Roosevelt Park – Infrastructure Improvements on Glenside; Broadway; and Sherman

Important Information

This project consists of infrastructure improvements to Glenside Boulevard between Broadway Avenue (Garrison) and Sherman Boulevard.

The road will be fully reconstructed and concrete curb and gutter will be added to the edges. With this new mountable curb, new storm drainage pipe will be needed with catch basins on the edge of the road. This will tie into a large storm sewer immediately south of the Railroad Crossing. A large pipe will be bored under the tracks and a drain pipe installed inside it.

Additional Features

Other upcoming features include a 10-foot wide bike path on the east side of Glenside starting from just south of the Railroad and extending north to Wesco. A pedestrian crossing will be added south of the railroad with what is known as a ‘Refuge Island’ in the middle of the road, including a “table top” here to minimize speeds on the road.

There will also be a new entrance sign to the City of Roosevelt Park at the north end of the project, new lighting, and infrastructure to support a possible future linear park south of the Railroad. The Railroad will make improvements to the crossing at the same time as the road construction.

Traffic Information

Glenside Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic. Access will be allowed to residences and businesses, but no one will be able to travel from one end to the other.

Due to other construction on Sherman Boulevard, the posted detour will be: Sherman west to McCracken Street to Norton Avenue to Roosevelt Road back to Glenside and vice-versa.

Roadway construction will last through September 2023.  Final restoration and clean up will continue through the fall and possibly into the spring of 2024.
