West Randall Lift Station: Construct a second lift station adjacent to the existing West Randall Lift Station to accommodate proposed flows for the Southeast Regional Force Main.

Work completed/in progress:

  • The Diversion Chamber was placed, and 48-inch sewer installation began.
  • Base mat of steel was installed in the dry well lid, and floor sleeves and conduit were added.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Remaining conduit and steel will be installed in the dry well. The dry well lid is scheduled to be poured late next week.
  • Installation of underground structures and sewer will continue.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Wet well lid was poured.
  • Backfill continued.
  • Grand River began constructing forms for dry well lid.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Installation of steel, conduit, and floor drains in dry well lid, which is currently scheduled to be poured the week of March 24.
  • Installation of underground structures and gravity sewer.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Dampproofing and backfill of the lift station structure continued.
  • The bridge crane was installed.
  • Grand River installed formwork and steel for the wet well lid.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Structure backfill will be completed.
  • The wet well lid will be poured.
  • Grand River will begin installing forms, steel, and conduit for the dry well lid.

Work completed/in progress:

  • The lower portion of the structure has been dampproofed and backfilled.
  • Supports and runway beams for the bridge crane have been installed.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • The next section of the structure will be dampproofed and backfilled.
  • The bridge crane will be installed.
  • Grand River will place shoring in the wet well in preparation for the wet well lid pour.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Structure was filled with water for the leak test.
  • Sand continues to be stockpiled on the site for future backfilling of the lift station structure.
  • The structure successfully passed its leak test and will be drained of water.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Grand River will apply a waterproofing coating to the exterior of the structure.
  • Preparations will begin for installing the bridge crane in the station.
Work completed/in progress:
  • Grand River filled in the openings around most of the wall pipes with concrete.
  • Today the remaining wall pipe openings will be filled, and another section of wet well infill concrete will be poured.
Anticipated work activities for the coming week:
  • Next week, Grand River will strip formwork, plug the wall pipes, and fill the entire structure with water for a few days to test for any leaks.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Grand River completed installation of steel, floor sleeves and drains, and conduits in the dry well intermediate platform and is pouring the platform today (see photos below).

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Wall pipes are anticipated to be on site early next week. Grand River will be working on installing those pipes through the openings in the structure walls.
  • Grand River’s earthwork subcontractor, Schippers Excavating, may begin stockpiling sand on the site for future backfilling of the lift station structure.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Grand River is pouring the first set of wet well infill concrete today.
  • They are also working on formwork and conduit installation for the dry well intermediate platform.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Reinforcing steel, floor sleeves and drains, and conduits will be installed in the intermediate platform slab, which will be poured as soon as next week.

Work completed/in progress:

  • Grand River stripped forms from the lift station walls and began tying steel for the concrete wet well fillets.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • The first set of wet well fillets will be poured.
  • Grand River will begin forming and installing conduit for the intermediate dry well platform.

Work completed/in progress:

  • The final wall section was poured this week. The base slab and walls are now complete.
  • Grand River is stripping forms from the previous wall section today.

Anticipated work activities for the coming week:

  • Grand River will continue removing formwork and preparing for installation of the wall pipes and leak testing of the structure.
