This week work was primarily focused on preparation for larger activities. Actual pipe installation has not begun yet but will begin his coming week.

Work Completed This Week

  • Installed dewatering systems on Edgewater and at the Alley on Thompson.
  • Constructed an access pit on Thompson for installation of the sanitary sewer in the alley between Walnut and Cherry. This will be used to push a steel pipe into the alley which will ultimately have the final sanitary sewer pipe inserted through it. This limits impact to the alley where the excavation would be deepest.

Anticipated Work

  • Installation of the bore and jacked casing in the alley.
  • Installation of water main and sanitary sewer on Edgewater.

Work on this project has begun. Focus in the first week has been on site preparation, removals and locating existing utilities. The next week will focus on setting up dewatering systems and work in the alley between Walnut and Cherry.

Work Completed This Week

  • Removed the road surface on Edgewater, Thompson and Walnut.
  • Worked on removals for sidewalk, drive approaches and curb and gutter.
  • Completed preparation work for a boring pit at the alley between Walnut and Cherry.

Anticipated Work

  • Installation of dewatering on Edgewater and Thompson.
  • Boring and Jacking of a casing pipe into the alley between Walnut and Cherry. This casing will have a sanitary sewer inserted through it later in the project, this will allow installation without disturbing the nearby houses and garages.
  • Installation of water main on Edgewater may begin near the end of the week.

Construction of this project will begin next week, March 11. Primary focus for the first week will be mobilization of equipment, removal of the roadway of Edgewater between Thompson and Wilcox, and installation of a boring pit on Thompson at the alley between Walnut and Cherry Streets. The intersection of Thompson and Edgewater will be closed and access to the neighborhood will be from Waterworks Road for the foreseeable future.

Due to the high water table in this area, the contractor will be installing wells and pumps to temporarily lower the water table to allow installation of the piping. These will be running at all times of the day and night. Please be aware of these systems when you are in the area.

Residents living on Edgewater between Thompson and Wilcox will have access restored each night to their drives; however, access during the day may be limited at times due to the construction. Roadside parking on Wilcox will be available.

Work on tree removals for the full project area is anticipated to begin the week of January 22. Construction of Phase 1 is anticipated to begin mid-March.
