Zeeland Charter Township - 74th Ave, Perry St, 76th Ave - Shared Use Pathway

Project Information

A shared-used pathway is being built on 74th Ave from Adams Street to Perry Street, along Perry Street from 74th Ave to 76th Ave, and along 76th Ave from Perry Street to Byron Road. This includes approximately 12,300 feet of 8-foot-wide paved shared use pathway, 230 feet of treated lumber boardwalk, retaining walls, and restoration.

Construction is planned to start March 17, 2025, and is expected to be completed by August 15, 2025.

Progress Report:

  • Ron Meyer & Associates continued the restoration process on both 74th & 76th Avenues this week.
  • Bruce’s Blacktop was onsite early this week and paved the remainder of the pathway on 74th Avenue at Adams Street.
  • Legacy Concrete was onsite multiple days this week pouring concrete at boardwalk landings, ADA locations at all crosswalks, and curbs along the Adams Elementary driveways.
  • Integrity Landscaping was onsite hydroseeding restored areas along 76th Avenue this week.
  • Riverworks Construction was onsite at the end of the week installing fence railings at boardwalk landings.

Upcoming Work:

  • Ron Meyer & Associates will finish restoring the newly paved sections of pathway along 74th Avenue.
  • Integrity Landscaping will be onsite hydroseeding additional restored areas along 74th Avenue next week.
  • Riverworks Construction will finish the installation of fence railings at boardwalk locations next week.

Please be on the lookout for caution tape, signage, and barriers along the pathway in sections that may not be completed.

Progress Report:

Ron Meyer & Associates removed curb and gutter along both driveway of the Adams Street Elementary School as well as sidewalk that connected the south driveway to Adams Street this week. They built up the new path and final graded it to prepare for paving. Restoration also continued on sections of both 74th & 76th Avenues that have been completely paved. The contractor also completed the installation of the last storm sewer & drainage structures along the path.

Straight Line Fence completed installing fencing along the two large block retaining walls on 76th Avenue.

Integrity Landscaping was onsite hydroseeding restored areas along 76th Avenue this week.

Upcoming Work:

Ron Meyer & Associates will continue to restore completed areas to prepare for hydroseeding as well as preparing street crossings and boardwalk landings for concrete, which is expected early next week.

Integrity Landscaping will be onsite hydroseeding additional restored areas along 74th & 76th Avenues next week.

Bruce’s Blacktop will be onsite nearly next week to complete the paving along 74th Avenue to Adams Street.

  • Ron Meyer & Associates will continue building path along 74th Avenue and restoring sections of pathway that have been completely paved on 76th Avenue. The contractor will reach the Adams Street Elementary and begin work through those driveways up to Adams Street.
  • Fencing will be completed along the large block retaining walls next week.
  • Preparations for concrete will continue with concrete expected to be poured near the end of the month.

Integrity Landscape Management completed their work on the second large block retaining wall on 76th Avenue and are now offsite.

Upcoming Work:

Ron Meyer & Associates will continue building path along 74th Avenue and will begin restoring sections of pathway that have been completely paved on 76th Avenue. Preparations for the concrete landings on both sides of each boardwalk will occur next week with the anticipation of concrete being poured within the next two weeks.

Progress Report:

Ron Meyer & Associates continued stripping topsoil and placing sand/gravel this week, working to meet the existing path on Byron Road. A second crew placed storm sewer along 76th Avenue.

Integrity Landscape Management finished work on the second large block retaining wall on 76th Avenue.

Upcoming Work:

Ron Meyer & Associates will final grade portions of path on 76th Avenue heading towards Byron Road as they prepare for paving. Work will continue storm sewer installation along 76th Avenue, dependent on weather, material, and contractor availability.

Bruce’s Blacktop will be onsite near the end of the week to pave base course on several sections of path on 76th Avenue.

Ron Meyer & Associates continued stripping topsoil and placing sand/gravel this week heading north on 76th Avenue. The second crew placed a drainage structure and storm sewer on 74th Avenue. A third crew began restoration along Perry Street where paving was completed.

Bruce’s Blacktop completed base course paving along a section of 74th Avenue and the entire length of Perry Street. Top course was also paved along the entire length of Perry Street.

Integrity Landscape Management began work on the second large block retaining wall on 76th Avenue.

Ron Meyer & Associates will continue stripping topsoil and placing sand/gravel heading north on 76th Avenue. Work will continue on storm sewer installation along 74th & 76th Avenue, dependent on weather, material, and contractor availability.

Bruce’s Blacktop will be onsite Monday, June 16th, to base additional sections of path along 74th Avenue that are prepped and ready.

  • Ron Meyer & Associates will continue stripping topsoil and placing sand/gravel heading north on 76th Avenue toward the Ottawa County Park Entrance. Work will continue on storm sewer installation along 76th Avenue, dependent on weather, material, and contractor availability.
  • Integrity Landscape Management will be back onsite to begin work on the second large block wall on 76th Avenue.
  • Bruce’s Blacktop will be onsite Tuesday, June 10th, to pave sections of path along Perry Street and 74th Avenue that are prepped and ready.

Progress Report:

Ron Meyer & Associates continued stripping topsoil and placing sand/gravel on 76th Avenue where no storm sewer is required. The crew also continued placing storm sewer and drainage structures on 76th Avenue and built path on top of the installed sections of sewer.

Integrity Landscape Management continued working on of one of the large block retaining walls on 76th Avenue.

Upcoming Work:

Ron Meyer & Associates will continue with storm sewer installation along 76th Avenue, while building path on top of the installed sections. Final path grading on parts of 74th Avenue, Perry Street, and 76th Avenue will occur at the beginning of the week to prepare for paving the base course of Asphalt near the end of the week. Storm sewer installation and paving are dependent on weather, material, and contractor availability.
