Below is an update on the Lakeshore Drive reconstruction work in the City of Muskegon:
Work that took place this week:
Conduit and pole bases have been installed for the new light poles on the north side of the road between McCracken and Frisbee. Concrete curb and gutter was poured and steel reinforcing bars have been installed for the dyed crosswalks. The remainder of the mainline concrete was poured this week with the exception of the driveway gaps and the crosswalks. The pavement gap at Estes to the north (Car Ferry Entrance) is being prepped now and will be poured this evening so it can be reopened Monday morning. Excavation for the wall near Ruddiman Creek began.
Here is what to expect next week, the week of August 5, 2019:
Work will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 3, 2019 which will be curb and gutter near Laketon and driveway pavement gaps
Crosswalks will be poured with dyed concrete (Dark Grey)
Driveway approaches will be poured
Access to driveways should be restored after concrete is cured, but the curb and gutter as well as the driveway approach work will continue to limit access
Once the crosswalks are cured and sealed, temporary access to homes and businesses on the new concrete will be easier
We are anticipating traffic on the new concrete to be shifted over on or around Monday, August 12, 2019. It will remain a single lane in the westbound direction as it is now.
