This week, the new water main pipe passed all its tests and it was connected to the existing distribution system at Broadway and Valk to the north. New water services were installed for homes and businesses on the south side of Broadway and they were tied over to the new water main. Some new storm sewer pipe and structures were installed starting at the east end near US-31 and the contractor worked their way through the project to the west. Assess remains open to all driveways and side streets. The area was watered down for dust control.

Here is what to expect next week, the week of August 6, 2018:

There is one more water service to be installed on the south side of Broadway. Then water services will be installed for all the homes and businesses on the north side of Broadway to be connected to the new main.
Once all the water services are done, the Contractor will begin tying the side street water mains to the new main. This will involve longer duration shut downs of about 4 hours each. Customers will be notified ahead of time.
More storm sewer work is planned.
Once all the underground work is complete, the road will begin to take shape. We are looking at a couple more weeks of underground work before the new road will be cut in.
