This week, the contractor passed the pressure (leak) test of the water main. Disinfection of the water main has been postponed until next week due to a breakdown in a pump that’s needed. New drainage structures were installed at Austin and Madison and other locations. The contractor also began cutting the roadway down to sand grade in preparation of the road base gravel to be installed.
Here is what to expect next week, the week of August 12, 2019:
No work is planned for Saturday, August 10, 2019, but Saturday work may be an option to maintain the schedule in the future.
The new water main will be disinfected to ensure it is safe before connecting it to the City’s water system
Water connections to the existing system will begin to take place with safe passage of all tests. Water Main connections may involve brief interruptions to your water service.
More work may take place on the drainage structures and storm sewer once the water tie ins and water services are completed.
Please note that if/when there is an interruption to your water service (customers will be notified prior to planned outages), you may experience discolored water. Please run the cold water in your tub until the water is clear. If the water appears cloudy, it is typically due to tiny air bubbles that are trapped in the water. Just leave the water in a glass and it will clear up (the air will dissipate).
