Work along Kinney Avenue is progressing smoothly. Below is an update on where things stand:
Work Completed Last Week
- Mainline storm sewer has been completed. Approximately 8 catch basin leads crossing the roadway remain to be installed over the next week or two.
- Concrete sidewalk was installed last week on the west side of Kinney Avenue between GVSU Private Drive and Edinboro Street. Several driveway approaches were also installed.
- The northbound lane of Kinney Avenue has been built up to the aggregate base for the length of the project
- Grading and topsoil restoration work has begun along Kinney Avenue between the GVSU Private Drive and Edinboro Street
Anticipated Work This Week
- Continue installing storm sewer catch basin leads crossing Kinney Avenue north of Edinboro Street
- Continue grading and placing topsoil in the areas outside of the roadway where curb and gutter and sidewalk has been installed
- The roadway will be built up to the aggregate base within the southbound lane of Kinney Avenue from Edinboro Street to Leonard Avenue.
The remainder of this weeks’ construction activities will be concentrated between Edinboro Street and Thornwyk Drive. Local traffic seeking to travel through this area should expect delays or seek an alternate route.
Aggregate base is continuing to be installed this week and Kinney is starting to look closer to roadway again.
The mainline storm sewer has been completed, all that remains is various catch basin and yard basin leads.
The detention basin turf is continuing to be established and is functioning as designed.
