*Attention: Lakeshore Drive will be completely closed to traffic between Laketon Ave. and Addison St. this Saturday, June 22 from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.*
The road closure is to allow for the Seaway Run to take place in this area. West bound traffic will be rerouted from Laketon Ave. to Barclay St. to Hackley Ave. to McGraft Park Rd./Addison St. and then back onto Lakeshore Drive.
Here is a brief update for the Lakeshore Drive reconstruction work in the City of Muskegon:
Work that took place this week: The contractor completed all water main testing necessary for the water main to be tied into the existing system. The water main was tied in at Addison, Torrent, and McCracken allowing for 30-inch water main to be live and pressurized. With the main live the contractor was able to begin water service installation starting at Addison Street and working west towards McCracken. Existing storm sewer was removed between McCracken and Mann. New drainage structures were installed between McCracken and Addison for the new road.
Here is what to expect next week, the week of June 24, 2019:
Work will continue tomorrow, Saturday, June 22 with grading of the sand subbase.
Water service replacement will continue for houses to the north working from Addison St. west to McCracken. Subcontractor for this work is SWT Excavating and this work may involve an indoor plumbing connection.
Storm sewer pipe will be placed from the drainage structure to the limits of the Phase 1 construction.
Contractor will be grading the sand subbase for the new road starting at Laketon working their way west to McCracken.
Aggregate road base is planned to be installed from Laketon to Addison.
The 24 inch water main connection at McCracken may take place at end of the week depending on the status of water service replacements.

Please remember that all work is weather dependent.
Please let us know if you have any problems with mail delivery or garbage collection.
Work in the current phase is taking about a week longer due some unforeseen old infrastructure and some environmental concerns that had to be dealt with properly and safely. The next phase will go much faster than the first phase as it will only entail connecting southern water mains and services to the new water main. We understand the impact of the construction to the normal daily life and business and no one wants this to go longer than it should. Please know that the Contractor has multiple crews working on the project now and although there may not be work immediately in front of your home/business, please rest assured that there is work ongoing on the project in multiple places at one time. The end of the June will see the new road taking shape. The phase and traffic shift will likely take place in early July. Two-way traffic will not be re-established on Lakeshore Drive until the beginning of August. All construction is planned to be complete by the end of October, 2019.
