The State of Michigan is currently under the Governor’s Executive Order to Stay Home. An exemption to the order is essential services. The Union Pier Project has been designated an Essential Service and as such construction remains in process. For the safety of yourself and the construction crews, please stay away from the construction area.
RED ARROW HIGHWAY AT UNION PIER ROAD IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER MEMORIAL DAY.
The delay is due to COVID-19 and construction challenges that is slowing sewer project progress. COVID-19 delays have also pushed back the anticipated start date for the road and streetscape improvements project by approximately two weeks. The road and streetscape work is now expected to begin mid to late July.
Flyers have been mailed to notify affected business owners.
Red Arrow Highway will be closed immediately north of Berrien Street starting June 2 through June 4. Access to local businesses will be maintained via Lakeshore Drive.
Work completed this past week:
- Sanitary sewer excavation continued. Manhole #3 and 36-inch sanitary sewer beneath Red Arrow Highway was installed.
What to expect next week (May 26– 30):
- 24″ sanitary sewer installation in Townline Avenue.
