Residents in the pressure conversion area whose water pressure is anticipated to be 90 pounds per square inch (psi) or greater after the conversion takes place should have received a letter offering them a free pressure reducing valve (PRV). The general area of the higher pressure is along Cedar Ridge Drive. The PRV can be picked up free of charge from the Plainfield Township Water Department Building at 5195 Plainfield Avenue. You are responsible for hiring a plumber to install the PRV. We estimate the cost for a plumber to install the PRV will be in the range of $300-$500. The PRV should be installed by November 8, 2021, to ensure that it is operational before the actual pressure conversion takes place later in November.
The Plainfield Water Department is working on setting a date that the actual pressure conversion will take place. Once this date is finalized, a final letter will be sent to all residents who will be affected by the pressure increase. This letter will let you know when the pressure conversion will take place and have recommendations on what you should do prior to and on the date of the pressure conversion.
Please contact a project representative if you have questions or concerns.
