We are getting close to starting construction on the next phase of Broadway Avenue reconstruction. You likely remember last year’s project from Bailey to the US-31 overpass. This project will be very similar to that project with water main replacement, new drainage structures, new driveway replacement, select sidewalk replacement and of course the roadway reconstruction which will reduce the existing 4-lane road to a 3-lane road like we built last year. This project will start at Getty and go to Bailey where we left off last year.
Here is some important information for the upcoming project:
The contractor will be dropping off and setting up some of the traffic control signage and state flowers orange barrels the week of July 1, 2019. The detour route will be the same as last year: Getty north to Sherman, east to Black Creek, then south back to Broadway (reverse from Black Creek). However, the road will not be closed and removed until July 8, 2019. This is when the traffic control (barricades) and detour will be put into place and the roadway will be removed. Construction is expected to go until the end of September 2019 and the road is currently scheduled to be fully open to traffic on or around October 4, 2019 (weather permitting).
Also, mailboxes will need to be removed temporarily during construction and relocated so they don’t get damaged.
What you can do now:
If you have any irrigation lines or heads near the sidewalk, please place a stake or flag near the heads so we can do our best to protect them during construction. Some water services will be replaced all the way to the building. If you know where your water meter is in the basement, be sure to keep the area clear around it for ease of access.
We’ll be sending out updates on a weekly basis after construction begins.
