Progress Report:
The contractor placed pipe North of Barry Street to about 1,000 feet South of Van Buren Street. The contractor has also begun reconstructing the ditch and placing culverts under the appropriate driveways.
Upcoming Work:
The contractor will continue north towards Van Buren Street installing the new water main.
The contractor will close down the intersection of Van Buren Street and 48th Ave on Thursday, September 12, but if progress slows, it could be closed down on Friday, September 13 instead. The tentative plan will involve the following:
- The intersection of Van Buren Street and 48th Ave will be closed to all traffic for approximately one day. As previously stated, this could take place either September 12 or 13.
See Detour Map. - The section of 48th Ave that is south of Van Buren Street will be reopened once the contractor crosses the intersection.
- The Section of 48th Ave between Van Buren Street and Port Sheldon Street will be closed to through traffic.
- Unity Christian High School will only be able to be accessed from Port Sheldon Street once Van Buren Street is closed until Dean’s construction finishes for the year in late October. Access will no longer be possible from Van Buren Street (even when Van Buren Street is reopened after the crossing of Van Buren Street) due to construction of the transmission main south of Unity Christian.
In addition, while 48th Ave remains open to the residents and businesses that are on it, the road is closed to through traffic, and police officers are present to keep the construction site safe from unnecessary traffic.
