An exciting end of the week to the Kinney Avenue project included beginning to install concrete curb and gutter on the south portion of the project! See below for more details of what was completed last week and what’s to come:
Work Completed Last Week
- An underground Kenowa Hills Public School fiber line conflict with the storm sewer installation was repaired and relocated near Imperial Avenue.
- 30-inch mainline storm sewer was installed from just north of Imperial Drive to just south of Thornwyk Drive.
- Various catch basin and yard basin leads were installed south of the mainline storm sewer crew.
- Mainline curb and gutter was installed between the GVSU Private Drive and Edinboro St.
- Riprap was installed at the detention basin spillway.
Anticipated Work This Week
- Drive approaches and sidewalk through driveways were installed Monday to minimize the time affected residents are unable to access their driveways. Please refrain from driving over the new concrete curb and approaches until Monday, June 17 to allow for proper curing.
- Mainline sidewalk will be installed today on the east side of Kinney Avenue from GVSU Private Drive to Edinboro Street.
- The 30-inch water main will be crossed under with 30-inch storm sewer on Wednesday and Thursday (near 832 Kinney Avenue).
- 30-inch mainline storm sewer will continue to be installed north toward Thornwyk Drive.
- The top course of asphalt on the GVSU Private Drive is scheduled for Friday.
Today’s storm sewer installation operation will be concentrated to the southbound lane across from Thronwyk Ave, while Wednesday and Thursday will be located at #832 Kinney Ave. Local traffic seeking to travel through these areas should expect delays or seek an alternate route.
