Harrison scores $598,000 downtown grant

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) presented the City of Harrison with a Downtown Infrastructure Grant (DIG) of $598,000 for a four-block downtown streetscape. Prein&Newhof will design the streetscape to beautify downtown Harrison and calm traffic.

P&N plans to design the project this spring and summer so construction can start after Labor Day.

MEDC anticipates another round of DIG applications this fall for 2015 projects. Up to $750,000 is available and a local match is required. To qualify for a DIG Grant, at least 51% of a community’s residents must be considered to have a low to moderate income.

Prein&Newhof will publish the 2015 DIG grant’s availability when MEDC announces it.
