Ever wonder just how extensive Michigan’s trails are?
Google maps just doesn’t cut it when it comes to finding the best recreational, non-motorized paths close to your location.
Michigan Trails Magazine and Website partners with the West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition (WMT&GC) and the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance (MTGA). Their website, TrailsMichigan.com, has an extensive directory of Michigan’s trails along with their names, histories, stories, amenities (parking, restrooms, water), and photos. The directory groups Michigan’s trails by region, and the maps pop up information as you hover over your specific region.
Together, they also annually publish the Michigan Trails Magazine, which features individual trails by region across the state. Prein&Newhof has helped design several of these trails, including the North Bank Trail, the CIS Trail and sections of the Grand River Valley Rail Trail, the Musketawa Trail and the White Pine Trail. Our own Scott Post, a board member of the West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition, is on is on page 18. Since 1998, Scott has worked almost exclusively on trail projects. In that time, he has designed or managed over 180 miles of trails in Michigan. He has a passion for beautiful trails and finding solutions that satisfy both residents and community leaders in the trail planning process.
Here are seven “P&N trails” that are featured in the magazine.
