Michigan’s first pervious concrete intersection built in Ionia

[youtube=http://youtu.be/BBJG4rJdnA4]

When the City of Ionia re-built Lafayette Street, they replaced two existing asphalt intersections with pervious concrete pavement. This video shows the City’s Vactor Truck emptying 5,000 gallons of water directly on the intersection. The water flows through the pavement, collects in the specially-designed soil below it, and infiltrates and recharges the groundwater. Jason Washler, P.E.  designed the project.
