Permeable Pavers Video

December 4, 2012

P&N’s Lake Street reconstruction project in Whitehall is Michigan’s first “green” road. One of the green technologies employed there is the use of brick permeable pavers in parking areas to collect sheet runoff from the road during rainstorms. This video shows how water infiltrates through the cracks between paver bricks into the stone below the surface, which eventually releases the water into the native sandy soil below it.

Jim Hegarty and Jason Washler went to Whitehall last week and shot some footage of the pavers in action. Since the weather was beautiful that day, they decided to make their own storm.
