Almost a year ago, our blog featured an article about the importance of engineering your trail rather than just building it.
Rapid Growth Media, a Grand-Rapids area news source focusing on growth, innovation, and economic development, picked up on it and recently interviewed Prein&Newhof’s trail engineer Scott Post. Scott and our landscape architect friend, Jim Morgan, RLA of RJM Design, both were quoted about their trail design thoughts in an article published yesterday.
“Whether you’re a frequent or rare trail user, you may have never considered the actual engineering involved in a trail or special circumstances unique to a particular trail. Though not every trail is specially engineered, the best ones usually are. That’s because the best trails usually involve rugged terrain, forests, wetlands, rivers and other natural features that make design challenging while producing a memorable user experience.”
