Work Completed this week

  • Traffic control for the project was placed on July 1, 2019.
  • CL Trucking and Excavating completed reconstruction of the road subbase and aggregate base on S. Elm between E. Gardner and Division.
  • CL Trucking and Excavating continued work on restoration of the grassy areas.
  • Lite Loads asphalt paving will be on site Friday to place the base course of asphalt on S. Elm between Division and E. Gardner.

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Roadway reconstruction will continue on S. Elm and E. Gardner.
  • Asphalt Paving is scheduled to continue mid-week.
  • CL Trucking and Excavating will complete any remaining restoration of the grassy areas as well as gravel in existing approaches.

Comments

  • If a resident has special access needs, please coordinate with the contractor and onsite inspection staff.
  • Access will be extremely limited during asphalt paving operations. Asphalt will be placed in two separate lifts on separate days.  After the first lift has been placed, crews will cut holes in the new asphalt to raise the manhole castings to their final elevation.
  • Elm will remain closed to THRU traffic for the duration of the project. Emergency vehicle access be maintained and local traffic will be maintained to the extent as the excavation allows.  Access to the parking lot across and the Alley behind Angela’s will also be maintained, but residents/patrons are asked to remain patient as construction traffic in and out of the site may be heavy during daytime hours and navigating around the site may take some additional time.
  • Construction will begin around 7 AM each morning and generally end around 6 PM each night. Work on Saturdays may also take place as the contractors schedule dictates.
  • Progress is moving along and we anticipate an on-schedule project completion.

  • CL Trucking and Excavating began work on restoration of the grassy areas.
  • Martin J Concrete continued the placement of the new concrete curb and gutter and began placing the concrete sidewalk and drive approaches.

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • Roadway reconstruction and grading will continue on S. Elm and E. Gardner
  • Martin J Concrete will complete the placement of the new concrete curb and gutter as well as sidewalk and drive approaches.
  • Asphalt Paving is scheduled to begin mid-week
  • CL Trucking and Excavating will continue on restoration of the grassy areas as well as gravel in existing approaches.

  • Martin J Concrete will complete the placement of the new concrete curb and gutter and begin the replacement of the new concrete sidewalk and drive approaches.

  • CL Trucking & Excavating completed the replacement of sanitary laterals to each property between E. Gardner and Hickory.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating completed the sanitary sewer work on S. Elm
  • CL Trucking & Excavating began the replacement of storm manholes and the placement of new catch basin on S. Elm between E. Gardner and Hickory.

Anticipated Work Next Week

  • CL Trucking & Excavating will begin work on the reconstruction of the roadway.

Work completed in the last two weeks:

  • Traffic control for the project was placed on July 1, 2019 and the Contractor had the existing roadway surface on S. Elm between Division and Gardner milled (ground) off.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating completed the replacement of a section on water main on the north side of the S. Elm and E. Gardner on Wednesday morning. Although this work was not planned as part of the project, crews replaced a section of the main that leaking at an abandoned water main tee.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating continued the sanitary sewer work on S. Elm working from the south to the north up to the Hickory intersection.

Anticipated work next week:

  • CL Trucking & Excavating will complete the placement of the sanitary sewer on S. Elm between E. Gardner and Hickory. Work will begin on the completion of the replacement of the sanitary laterals for individual properties.
  • If laterals are completed, CL Trucking & Excavating will begin work on the storm sewer upgrades.

  • Excavations for sanitary laterals will still be up to 15 feet deep at points so residents are urged to avoid the excavated areas. Sanitary lateral excavation will extend much closer to the property Right-of-Way line. Restoration of yards will be completed as part of the project in the early fall.
  • Construction will begin around 7 AM each morning and generally end around 6 PM each night. Work on Saturdays may also take place if the contractor’s schedule dictates.

Work completed in the last two weeks:

  • Traffic control for the project was placed on July 1, 2019 and the Contractor had the existing roadway surface on S. Elm between Division and Gardner milled (ground) off.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating completed the removals of the roadway in E. Gardner on July 8, 2019. The intersection of E. Gardner and S Elm can only be shut down for a limited number of days during the project as CL Trucking & Excavating tie-in to the existing sanitary sewer on E. Gardner.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating completed the sanitary sewer work on E. Gardner on Wednesday and have begun the placement of the sanitary sewer on S. Elm working from the south to the north.
  • CL Trucking & Excavating removed the old abandoned lift station on the NW corner of S. Elm and E. Gardner on Thursday. This station has not been in operation for over 15 years.

Anticipated work next week:

  • CL Trucking & Excavating will continue with the placement of the sanitary sewer on S. Elm between E. Gardner and Hickory. Work will progress from the south to the north and may only progress a few hundred feet a day.

Comments:

  • The excavation for the new sanitary sewer is up to 20 feet deep in certain locations and has a larger and deeper excavation. As crew works past each house, access to driveways may be blocked during the day.  If a resident has special access needs please coordinate with the contractor and onsite inspection staff.
  • Elm will remain closed to THRU traffic for the duration of the project. Emergency vehicle access be maintained and local traffic will be maintained to the extent as the excavation allows. Access to the parking lot across and the Alley behind Angela’s will also be maintained but residents/patrons are asked to remain patient as construction traffic in and out of the site may be heavy during daytime hours and navigating around the site may take some additional time.
