The Cannonsburg Rd, Chauncey Dr to Pettis Ave section of the much-anticipated Grand River Greenway Project is scheduled for construction this summer in Cannon Township. This section is a part of the Greenway Project that will connect The White Pine Trail to Ada by the end of this year.
Construction is scheduled to start in mid-June 2026 with tree removal, and work on the pathway and boardwalks will commence immediately after. Project completion is anticipated by the end of September 2026.
Access/Traffic:
No Detours Anticipated. The project will be constructed with shoulder closures and temporary lane closures.

Progress Report:
Integrity Landscaping has completed nearly half of the first retaining wall, with trenching and block installation ongoing. Riverworks Construction continued making progress on the large boardwalk this week and is now past the halfway point!
Upcoming Work:
Integrity will continue trenching and installing block on the retaining wall into next week. Riverworks will continue construction of the large boardwalk, with that structure continuing to take shape.
Progress Report:
Riverworks is still continuing efforts constructing the large boardwalk on the corner of Pettis where they are nearly 50% complete with the structural elements of the boardwalk. On the West side of that boardwalk, piles for the smaller boardwalk have been completely installed, but further progress will be slowed until after the larger boardwalk is completed.
Terracon has begun partial removals of driveways along Cannonsburg. Integrity made it on site this week to begin the block wall construction and has made significant progress on the first wall, installing both over 100 feet of base and middle blocks.
Upcoming Work:
Riverworks will continue construction on the larger boardwalk into next week. Terracon will continue removing driveway approaches into next week. Integrity will continue construction on the retaining wall into next week.
Progress Report:
Subcontractor Riverworks has been continuing installation of fencing, railing, and support structures along the boardwalk near Pettis. Meanwhile, a second Riverworks crew working on pile installation has been driving piles east of the bridge over Bear Creek.
Modular block retaining wall construction also began today. Integrity has started excavating the area for the first retaining wall, located west of the Bear Creek boardwalk.
Upcoming Work:
These activities for both the boardwalk and retaining wall construction are expected to continue, with pile driving for the treated timber boardwalk anticipated to be completed by the middle of next week.
Progress Report:
Riverworks completed pile driving near Pettis Road this week and has made significant progress on the large boardwalk structure there, with joists, support beams, railings, and posts all being installed. Meanwhile, Terracon has been active at multiple locations along the area installing storm sewer, including at the intersection of Chauncey and Cannonsburg Road and near the small boardwalk at Bear Creek.

Next week Riverworks will begin pile driving for a smaller section of boardwalk east of the approach near Bear Creek and will continue boardwalk installations at the Pettis Road structure. Terracon plans to complete storm sewer installations by early next week.
Progress Report:
The boardwalk near Bear Creek is nearly complete! Remaining work is limited to railing installation, with the crew anticipating full completion early next week. At the Pettis Road intersection, pile driving is continuing and is expected to wrap up by mid next week. Installation of the boardwalk’s support members has also begun at that location.
Upcoming Work:
Next week the Bear Creek boardwalk is expected to reach completion, and pile driving at the Pettis Road boardwalk should be finished by mid-week, allowing structural work there to continue moving forward.

Riverworks Construction is closing in on completion of the boardwalk near Bear Creek and expects to wrap up that section by mid next week. Simultaneously, a second Riverworks crew has been active near the Pettis Road intersection, making progress on pile driving for the large boardwalk there.
Upcoming Work:
Once the Bear Creek boardwalk is finished mid-week, the crew will transition to join construction efforts at the Pettis intersection boardwalk. Pile driving at that location will continue into next week as that structure takes shape.
Progress Report:
Subcontractor Riverworks Construction continued pile driving for the boardwalk near Bear Creek this week and is on track to complete that section by Friday. In preparation for the next boardwalk, the area near Pettis Road has been staked and marked for pile locations. On the earthwork side, Terracon has nearly finished laying gravel along the path and is close to completing that phase of work.
Upcoming Work:
Next week Riverworks will shift to the Pettis Road boardwalk and begin pile driving there. Terracon plans to wrap up gravel placement along the path and will then turn attention to removing and replacing culverts along the corridor.

Riverworks Construction made great progress this week, completing pile driving for the first half of the boardwalk near Bear Creek Trail. At the same time, the crew began prep work for the second boardwalk near the intersection of Pettis and Cannonsburg Road, clearing brush from the area to ready the site for upcoming construction.

Next week Riverworks plans to complete pile driving for the second half of the boardwalk near Bear Creek Trail. Terracon will also be returning to site to regrade portions of the path and continue gravel placement once gas utility markers have been relocated.
Progress Report:
Riverworks mobilized on site Monday and began pile driving for the boardwalk near the intersection of Cannonsburg Road and Bear Creek Trail on Thursday. Terracon continued gravel placement along the path this week and addressed areas that were washed out from recent weather.
Upcoming Work:
Next week Riverworks plans to resume pile driving. Terracon will continue gravel placement and grading along the corridor. Integrity Landscaping is also expected on site early in the week to begin construction of the first retaining wall near the start of the path.

On Cannonsburg Road, work is continuing on the pathway project. Terracon has completed subgrade grading for all of the path. Progress is still continuing to be made on leveling and compacting the western end of the corridor and gravel continues to be placed near the eastern end of the corridor, which will carry into next week.
Upcoming Work:
Gravel placement will continue along the path throughout next week. In addition, the leveling and compacting of subgrade along certain areas of the path will also continue. Integrity Landscaping is expected to mobilize on site at the beginning of next week to begin construction on the retaining wall near the intersection of Bear Creek Trail and Cannonsburg Road. Riverworks Construction will also mobilize on site to begin construction of the boardwalk near the Bear Creek overpass.
