For this project, Shaffer Avenue (between 32nd Street and 44th Street) and 36th Street (between Shaffer Avenue and Broadmoor Avenue) will be repaved and a roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Shaffer Avenue and 36th Street. Construction is expected to begin on June 1, 2026 with completion by the end of September.
Access/Traffic:
During construction, the intersection of Shaffer Avenue and 36th Street will be closed to traffic. Shaffer Avenue north and south of the roundabout, as well as 36th Street east of the roundabout, will also be closed to through traffic, but will remain open to for local traffic only. Construction personnel and cones will direct you on how to reach your property. Emergency services will always have access to your property.
Mail:
The contractor will work with the post office and other shipping services to provide adequate access to your property to ensure uninterrupted mail delivery
Garbage Pickup:
Trash will continue to be collected on your regular day, but you may need to place your container(s) in a specific place (such as the other side of the road) for access by your waste hauler. Contact your waste hauler with questions about where you should place your containers if the area around your property is especially disturbed. Ultimately, the contractor is responsible for making sure trash can be collected.
