City of Hart - Downtown Plaza

Project Information

The City of Hart is embarking on a rebuild of its downtown. This project will reconfigure the State Street and Main Street intersection to improve pedestrian safety, and make it a more versatile space for events. Work will include all new water main and storm sewer infrastructure, and larger pedestrian gathering spaces. To beautify the space new landscaping, trees, and lighting will be installed throughout the space. A new gathering area will be developed along State Street which will feature a new community fire place.

Access/Traffic:

Work will be completed in multiple phases require detours and traffic shifts. Detours will be posted.

Construction on State Street and Main Street has officially begun! Wadel has made significant progress on removals and utility replacements over the past week. Work on utilities will continue over the next week or two.

After today, northbound and southbound traffic on State Street will be maintained until work is completed on Main Street East of State Street. Main Street traffic east of State Street must follow the posted detour.

Work Completed:

  • Removal of the roadway has begun.
  • Sanitary sewer installation was completed on Main Street.
  • Storm sewer work began on Main Street.
  • Water main was installed on State Street was extended easterly, across State Street to Main Street.

Anticipated Work This Week:

  • Water main installation will continue on Main Street east of State Street to the east project limit. Once this is installed testing and cleaning of the new main will begin prior to connecting it to the system.
  • Storm Sewer installation on Main Street east of State Street will continue.
