Progress Report:
The contractor continued to install the 24 inch water transmission main pipe northbound past Wellington Street on 48th Avenue and are expected to end work just south of Tyler Street by the end of this week. The contractor also has been continuing to install and grade the aggregate base in preparation for paving from Port Sheldon to just north of Faringdom Grove Drive. The road remains closed to through traffic and should not be used except for local traffic only. Local traffic should proceed with caution and remain mindful of the workers present.
Upcoming Work:
The contractor will continue installing transmission main northbound towards Tyler Street. Starting on Tuesday the 16th, the contractor will be closing 48th Avenue both north and south of Tyler Street with the Stage 2 Detour route being setup (see Stage 2 map). Tyler Street will now no longer be accessible to through traffic (local traffic only). The Contractor will then mill the northbound lane on 48th Avenue from Tyler Street to Baldwin Street and will continue afterward installing the 24 inch water transmission main.
Note:
Following the implementation of the Stage 2 traffic control plan, 48th Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Port Sheldon Street to Baldwin Street. Through traffic should continue to follow the posted detour signage and should anticipate changes in detour signage.
Local traffic needing access to Chatsworth Creek Drive and Faringdom Grove Drive should do so by turning onto 48th Avenue from Port Sheldon Street if possible. While the contractor will continue to maintain access to 48th Avenue from either direction, dump trucks are anticipated to be lined up north and south of Tyler Street throughout next week.
We ask the public to respect the workers and the closed road. Police will continue to monitor the site to ensure safe working conditions and to ensure the road is only being used by those who live or work on this road. Local traffic should continue to be especially mindful as there will be multiple crews on site next week.
