Benton Charter Township - E. Britain Avenue Water System Improvements

Important Information

Benton Charter Township is replacing a water main along part of Britain Avenue from Fair Ave to 500 feet east of M-139. The project is scheduled from mid-April through the end of May. If you have questions or concerns, please contact any of the project representatives listed below.

Access/Traffic: Britain Avenue will be closed between Fair Ave and Crystal Ave for the duration of the project. Access to businesses and residences on Britain Ave will remain available from each direction.

Water Service: There will be times when water service to adjacent properties will be temporarily interrupted for several hours to facilitate water main connections of water service line replacement.

Progress Report: All mainline water main on the project has been installed! The standard procedures for water main testing and disinfection are complete with water samples from the new water main passing the required bacteriological tests. Road reconstruction and grading has also started on Britain Ave and M-139.

Upcoming Work: New service line connections are anticipated to occur over the next week. Concrete restoration at M-139 is also anticipated to occur by the end of the week.

April 19, 2024

Progress Report: Construction on the Britain Ave water main replacement project has started! Britain Ave has been closed between Fair Ave and Crystal Ave, with a detour following Empire Ave and Crystal Ave as illustrated in the map above. Approximately 400 feet of 8-inch water main has already been constructed between Fair Ave and M-139.

Upcoming Work: Water main construction will continue through next week towards the House of David.
