City of Muskegon - Morton Avenue Reconstruction

Important Information

The City of Muskegon will be reconstructing the roadway and utilities on Morton Street from Denmark to Lincoln. This work will consist of replacement of the water main, water services, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and roadway for the full length of the project.

This week started out quiet but ended with a lot of progress and activity. Concrete work is in full swing with installation of curb and gutter! Focus for the next week will continue with concrete drives and sidewalks. Final road grading will begin as well in preparation of paving.

Work Completed This Week

  • Road patches were placed on Miner and Harding.
  • Concrete curb and gutter was placed for the full length of the project.

Anticipated Work

  • Flat work will begin with driveways on Monday and Tuesday, sidewalks will follow.
  • Final grading of the aggregate will begin in preparation for pavement.

It has been a while since our last update. Since that time all underground work has been completed and the road is prepared for concrete curb. This next week will start slow but end busy with concrete installation.

Work Completed This Week

  • Final water services were completed on Meuer Court.

Anticipated Work

  • Final preparations for curb during the beginning of the week.
Work Completed This Week:
  • Completion of Water Main testing for new length installed between Lincoln and Lebouef. New length is tied-in to system at Lebouef.
  • Continuation of Storm Sewer installation from Lincoln to Muerer Court.
Anticipated Work:
  • Install new water services west of Lebouef
  • Finalize storm sewer installations
  • Grading of roadway east of Lebouef

This week was a little slower than many but progress was made on the storm sewer.

Work Completed This Week

  • Started storm sewer construction from Lincoln to the east.
  • Continued testing the new water main west of Leboeuf.
  • Completed sanitary sewer installation, all sanitary sewer is now complete.

Anticipated Work

  • Pending successful testing of the new water main, the new main will be connected at LeBoeuf.
  • Storm sewer installation will continue.
  • Grading of the roadway east of LeBoeuf is anticipated to begin.
  • Water service installation west of LeBoeuf may begin by the end of the week.

It has been a while since our last update–a lot has happened since then. Underground utility work east of LeBoeuf is now completed and installation of utilities west of LeBoeuf has begun.

 

Work Completed Since Last Update

  • Completed storm sewer east of LeBoeuf.
  • Removed the roadway west of LeBoeuf.
  • Installed water main west of LeBoeuf, this is currently being tested prior to connections.
  • Began installation of sanitary sewer west of LeBoeuf.

Anticipated Work

  • Pending successful testing of the new water main, water service replacement will begin west of LeBoeuf.
  • Sanitary sewer replacement west of LeBoeuf will continue.
  • Grading of the roadway east of LeBoeuf is anticipated to begin.
  • Storm sewer installation west of LeBoeuf may begin by the end of the week.

Sanitary sewer installation water service work continued this week east of LeBoeuf. Removal of the roadway west of LeBoeuf will begin either this week or the following.

Work Completed This Week

  • Completed the sanitary sewer east of LeBoeuf.
  • Completed water service installation east of LeBoeuf.
  • Connected the new water main to the existing system at Denmark.

Anticipated Work

  • Storm sewer installation will start on Morton between LeBoeuf and Leon.
  • Roadway removal west of LeBoeuf may begin.
Manhole Installation

Sanitary sewer installation continued this week working east towards Leon. Next week will be busier with water service work and sanitary sewer work at the same time.

Work Completed This Week

  • Approximately 250 feet of sanitary sewer was installed heading east toward Leon, including sewer services leaving only about 250 feet left for this section of the project.

Anticipated Work

  • Installation of sanitary sewer will continue heading east towards Leon.
  • Water services will be installed along the south side of Morton from LeBoeuf to Leon and on both sides from Leon to Denmark.

Installation of sanitary sewer was primary focus this week with mainline sewer between LeBoeuf to Leon.

 

Work Completed This Week

  • Approximately 180 ft of sanitary sewer was installed heading east from LeBoeuf.
  • Water services between LeBoeuf to Leon were completed on the north side of the road.

Anticipated Work

  • Installation of sanitary sewer will continue heading east from LeBoeuf.

Water service replacement and sanitary sewer work was the focus this week. This focus will continue into next week.

Work Completed This Week

  • Sanitary sewer was replaced in the Leboeuf intersection.
  • Water services were replaced on the north side of the road from Leboeuf to Denmark. All but 1 were completed.

Anticipated Work

  • The remaining water service will be replaced on the north side of Morton between Leboeuf and Denmark. Replacements for the south side of Morton will follow completion of the sanitary sewer a couple of weeks from now.
  • Sanitary sewer will be replaced in Morton from Leboeuf to Leon.

This week the focus was on storm sewer replacement east of Leon and water main. The week ended with preparations for next weeks sanitary sewer work at Leboeuf.

Work Completed This Week

  • Storm sewer was installed from Denmark to Leon.
  • Preparations have begun for replacement of the sanitary sewer at Leboeuf by removing the water main through the intersection and assembling bypass piping.

Anticipated Work

  • Water services will be replaced on along the north side of the road from Leboeuf to Denmark.
  • Sanitary sewer will be replaced through the Leboeuf intersection.
