Road restoration on Petrie and Wilson continued with asphalt base on the south half of the road over the water main trench and removal of the old asphalt on the north side of the road

Final paving on Petrie and Wilson is tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 13
PLEASE BE AWARE THIS MEANS ACCESS WILL BE LIMITED UNTIL THE ASPHALT IS COOL ENOUGH TO DRIVE ON BECAUSE THIS IS A DEAD END ROAD AND BOTH LANES WILL BE PAVED!

Water service stubs have been installed on Wilson and Petrie
Asphalt paving restoration has been completed for Seng, Kunz, Aue and for asphalt driveway approaches

Continued water service stub installations on Wilson and Petrie
Begin cleaning up the pavement and start remaining pavement removals on Petrie and Wilson

Concrete driveway approaches and concrete curb radii were replaced on Seng and Kunz
Lawn restorations have been done on Seng and Kunz – awaiting seeding

Work Anticipated Week of October 2, 2023

Water main will be connected at Petrie and Grand Haven Road on Monday, October 2, 2023. This should not affect anyone’s water.
Water service stubs will begin on Petrie on Tuesday
Finish water main installation on Wilson and begin testing
Remove remaining damaged asphalt on Seng and Kunz
Possibly repave asphalt areas on Seng and Kunz and maybe Aue/Miller Intersection – NOTE: Aue Road will be restored east of Miller Road as it was – with asphalt millings

Work Anticipated Week of September 11, 2023

Monday, Sept 11, 2023 (WEATHER DEPENDENT) – Planned water service shut down for customers on Hile Road between August Road and Earl Road, including all residents on Earl Street, John Avenue, Ida Street, and Eugene Avenue east of Earl Street. This impacts roughly 100 customers. Water is planned to be off around 9 AM until 5 PM. Work will be to tie-in the new water main in Kunz Street at Hile Road first which may restore service to most of these customers around noon and then at Seng Road and Hile Road.
- Note: If after your water is shut off and you experience discolored water – please run your COLD water through a bath tub spigot until the water clears. If it appears cloudy, this is due to tiny air bubbles in the water. If it appears reddish or yellow, this is due to increased iron, but the water is safe. Flushing the water will clear the water up over time. If it does not, please notify Dan Sorek or the City of Norton Shores Water Department.

Water main on Seng was connected to the City water system on Eugene making it live
Water main was installed on Kunz between Eugene and Hile
Water main on Kunz was tested for leaks
Pavement was removed at the intersection of Aue and Miller

Work Anticipated Week of September 4, 2023 (Labor Day)

No work will take place on Labor Day
Water main on Kunz will be tested for safety
If the water main on Kunz passes the safety test, the water main on Seng and Kunz will be tied in to the existing water main system on Hile at the same time. This will temporarily shut down water to roughly 100 residents on Hile Road between August Road and Earl Roads, including all residents on Earl Street, John Avenue, Ida Street and Eugene Avenue east of Earl Street.

Staking was done to mark out removal limits on Seng, Kunz and Aue
Sawcutting of Pavement on Seng, Kunz and Aue
Pavement removal, including driveway approaches on the west side of Seng between Eugene and Hile
Water main pipe was installed on Seng between Eugene and Hile
Residents on Seng – Temporary mailboxes were moved to Hile and will be moved to Eugene at the request of USPS on Monday, August 28, 2023.

Work Anticipated Week of August 28, 2023

New water main on Seng Road will be tested and if passed, will be tied to the existing water distribution system
Pavement removals and driveways on the west side of Kunze between Eugene and Hile
New water main pipe will be installed on Kunz Street between Eugene and Hile
Residents on Kunz – Mailboxes are not planned to be relocated since work will not be done on the side of the road that the mailboxes are on.
