City of Coopersville - River Street Reconstruction

Important Information

The City of Coopersville will be reconstructing River Street from Randall Street to the dead end cul de sac including all concrete curb and gutter and driveway approaches. Sanitary sewer and storm sewer utilities will also be reconstructed between O’Malley Drive and Randall Street as part of this project. River Street will be closed to through traffic, but will remain open to residents. Businesses located south of the project will be asked to utilize O’Malley Drive for access.

K&R will start construction with tree clearing and road removals the week of March 18, 2024, and continue with sanitary sewer construction. The project is anticipated to be completed by the middle of July, 2024.

During sanitary sewer construction, River Street will be blocked off for through access at the location of the sanitary sewer excavation. As sewer construction continues north, the direction of access to each property will be affected and will change with the progress of construction. Vehicles will have to access their property from either O’Malley or Randall Ave.

Access/Traffic

  • Emergency Vehicle Access to be Maintained.
  • Temporary access to be maintained to residents
  • There will be times where access will be limited to your home during paving and concrete construction – Contractor to coordinate alternate parking location
  • Businesses on the south of River Street are asked to use O’Malley Drive for access

Mail
Temporary mailbox location may be installed at Court Street and Metal Works Drive. Contractor to coordinate.

Garbage Pickup
Contractor may request trash receptacles to be placed at the road the night before.

Water Service
The City will be replacing any galvanized steel, lead, or plastic water services found during water main construction. If found, Water Services will be replaced from the new main to the curb stop box at the right of way line. There will be a 2–3-hour window of water shutoff for these connections. A few residents with galvanized services will have services replaced into their home and will be coordinated with Contractor/Plumber.
