City of Coopersville - Water System Improvements: Venna Place; Vida Circle; & East Street

Important Information

The City of Coopersville will be replacing undersized water main on Venna Place, Vida Circle, and on East Street between Randall Street and Main Street. Sidewalk and driveway approaches on the west side of East Street will be replaced from Randall St to Main Street.

Venna Place and Vida Circle streets will be reconstructed with new asphalt pavement as part of water main construction. The East Street portion of the project is scheduled to be completed by early August 2024. The Venna Place and Vida Circle portion of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2024.

Access/Traffic

Emergency Vehicle and access to residents will be maintained.

There will be times where access will be limited to your home during paving and concrete construction – Contractor to coordinate alternate parking location.

The south bound lane on East Street will be closed for most of the construction activity on East Street to accommodate water main construction. Both lanes on East Street will be closed for approximately 1 week towards the end of the project to complete water main connections.

Garbage Pickup

Contractor may request trash receptacles to be placed at the road the night before.

Water Service

The City will be replacing any galvanized steel, lead, or plastic water services found during water main construction. If found, Water Services will be replaced from the new main to the curb stop box at the right of way line. There will be a 2–3-hour window of water shutoff for these connections. A few residents with galvanized services will have services replaced into their home and will be coordinated with Contractor/Plumber

Progress Report:

All work on Venna Place and Vida Circle is complete. Montgomery excavating has completed water main on East Street between Randall Street and Main Street following the final tie in today (08/16).

Upcoming Work:

Concrete sidewalk and driveway restoration and turf restoration efforts will occur on East Street next week.

East Main Tie In

Progress Report:

The first course of asphalt on Venna Place and Vida Circle has been installed. Water Main on East Street has been installed between Main Street and Randall Avenue.

Upcoming Work:

The final course of asphalt on Venna Place and Vida Circle will be placed towards the end of the week and final restoration efforts will occur on the Venna Place and Vida Circle portion of the project. Montgomery Excavating will perform testing procedures on newly installed water main on East Street. Once water main testing is complete, Montgomery will connect the newly installed water main to the existing water main and connect water services to properties on East Street between Randall Avenue and Main Street.

Progress Report: Montgomery Excavating has placed new aggregate base material over a prepared sub base on Venna Place and Vida Circle. Concrete crews have completed most curb and gutter placement on Venna Place and Vida Circle, and some concrete approaches. Final water main connections were made, completing underground pipe installation on the project.

Upcoming Work: Concrete work on Venna Place and Vida Circle will be completed and Montgomery Excavating will continue the restoration process by preparing the roads for asphalt paving and by spreading topsoil for turf restoration.

Extra Notes: Access to driveways on Venna Place and Vida Circle will be limited for a duration of time to accommodate concrete curb and driveway approach construction including time to allow the concrete to cure. Montogomery Excavating will notify residents affected by this disturbance a prior to concrete construction.

Progress Report: Montgomery Excavating completed all water service connections on Venna Place, and have started the process for existing water main abandonment at the Ann Street intersections. Road restoration efforts have started on Vida Circle, and Venna Place, including the placement of underdrain, sand subbase, and gravel materials. Water main installation has started between the water main easement area between the Venna Place and Vida Circle cul de sacs.

Upcoming Work: Montgomery Excavating will complete all water main installation next week after testing and disinfection procedures are complete on the water main section in the easement area between the Venna Place and Vida Circle cul de sacs. Road restoration efforts will continue on Venna Place and Vida Circle with preparation for the placement of concrete curb, drive approaches, and sidewalk.

Progress Report: Montgomery Excavating completed the water main connection at the Venna Place and Ann Street intersection. Also, Montgomery completed storm sewer work on Vida Circle. The Contractor worked on connecting water services to the new water main on Venna Place. Road restoration work on Vida Circle also started this week.

Upcoming Work: Montgomery Excavating will continue to work on connecting water services on Venna Place this week. Continued road reconstruction on both Vida Circle and Venna Place is anticipated. Once all of the water service connections are complete, Montgomery Excavating will start the abandonment of the existing water main.

Extra Notes: Residents and motorists are reminded to stay clear of construction equipment and excavations on the project site.

Progress Report: Montgomery Excavating completed water main installation on Venna Place and connected water services to the newly installed water main to all properties on Vida Circle. Montgomery Excavating also installed storm sewer on Vida Circle from the cul de sac to the north approximately 120 feet.

Upcoming Work: Montgomery Excavating will complete the Venna Place water main connection at the Ann Street intersection on Monday, June 3rd. There will be a water main shut down to accommodate this connection. Affected residents who will temporality loose water supply for this connection have been notified. Montgomery Excavating will continue storm sewer installation on Vida Circle, and connect water services to the newly installed water main on Venna Place.

Progress Report:

Montgomery Excavating completed the installation of water main on Vida Circle this week, and started the installation of water main on Venna Place starting on the cul de sac. Water main progress on Venna Place was made to approximately 200′ south of Ann Street.

Upcoming Work:

Montgomery Excavating will continue water main installation on Venna Place towards the north. The newly installed water main on Vida Circle will be connected to the existing water main on Ann Street this week. Montgomery Excavating will continue pavement removals on both streets this week.

Residents and motorists are reminded to stay clear of construction equipment and excavations on the project site.

A water main shut down will occur this week Thursday, May 23rd from approximately 9:00 am to 4:00 pm to accommodate the new water main on Vida Circle being connected to the water main on Ann Street. The City will notify which residents in the project area will be affected by this shut down.

Progress Report: Montgomery Excavating complete the bore and jacked installation of the steel casing under the rail road track on East Street, to accommodate future water main construction. Then Montgomery Excavating mobilized equipment and materials on Vida Circle, and started water main construction from the Ann Street intersection towards the south.

Upcoming Work: Montgomery Excavating will continue to install water main on Vida Circle towards the cul-de-sac, and switch over their efforts to Venna Place to start pavement removals and water main construction from Ann Street towards the Venna Palace cul-de-sac.Extra Notes: Residents and motorists are reminded to stay clear of construction equipment and excavations on the project site.

Upcoming Work: Montgomery Excavating is scheduled to start steel casting bore and jack construction crossing the railroad on East Street next week. Bore and jack activity is expected to be completed in a few days. Once complete, the contractor will stop construction activity on East Street until June and move all efforts to Venna Place and Vida Circle.

Montgomery Excavating is scheduled to begin mobilizing construction equipment and materials on Venna Place and Vida Circle next week, as well as start pavement removals. Water main construction on Vida Place may begin towards the end of next week.
