Muskegon County - East Side Water Main Replacements

Underground work is now complete on Center Street! Underground work continues on West with water main installation and water services will begin soon.

Work Completed This Week on Center

• All remaining water services were completed.
• Final connections of the new water main to the water system were completed and the old water main is now out of service.

• Water main installation continued south of Vine.

• Site clean up in preparation of road construction.

• Water main will be connected to the system at Apple Avenue, this will connect the water main from Apple to McLaughlin.

Work on Center Street has now transitioned to water service installation and final connections of the water main while work on West Street is now in full swing.

• Water main installation south of Vine was completed, final testing is ongoing prior to connection to system.

• Roadway removal and topsoil stripping was completed.
• Water main installation started working from Apple to the south.

• Contractor will continue testing and connecting completed portions of the water main to allow installation of water services.

• Water main installation will continue.

Water main mainline installation is nearing completion on Center Street and work on West Street will begin next week. Water service installation on Center will begin as well.

• Water main from Apple to McLauglin was connected to the system.
• Water main from McLaughlin to Vine was successfully pressure tested and is currently undergoing disinfection.
• Water main is continuing to be installed south of Vine.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Contractor will continue working south installing water main south of Vine.
• Water service installation between Apple and McLaughlin will begin.
• Final testing and disinfecting of the pipe south of McLaughlin will be ongoing.

Anticipated Work on West

• Roadway drive removal is scheduled for early week.
• Possibly begin installation of water main by the end of the week.

This was another good week for pipe installation even with the snow squall at the end! Water main mainline installation is nearing completion on Center Street and work on West Street is around the corner.

Work Completed This Week

• Water main is currently installed from Apple Avenue to south of Vine. Most of the installation is anticipated to be complete next week.
• Water main from Apple to McLaughlin has been fully tested and disinfected, connection to the system is anticipated in the next week.
• Water main from McLaughlin to Vine is installed and undergoing final testing.
• Water main is continuing to be installed south of Vine.

Anticipated Work

• Contractor will continue working south installing water main south of Vine.
• Connection of the first section of pipe to the water system is tentatively scheduled for March 28.
• Final testing and disinfecting of the pipe south of McLaughlin will be ongoing.

Last week consisted of road removals and installation of water main on Center Street. Contractor has been very productive this week and made good progress.

Work Completed Last Week

• Removed drive approaches, roadway and stripped topsoil for the full length of Center Street.
• Water main on Center started at Apple Avenue and worked south, over 600 ft of water main was installed.

Anticipated Work

• Contractor will continue working south installing water main.

Due to the warmer than usual weather, construction on this project will resume next week. Starting on Monday March 4 crews will begin removals on Center Street with pipe installation beginning mid-week. Work on Center Street is expected to be wrapped up by the end of May.

A few reminders:

• This is an active construction site, please be aware of the equipment and excavations in the area.
• Please have your trash can placed at the edge of the maintained road the evening before pickup.
• Temporary mailboxes have been placed at designated locations.

Start dates for construction on West Street is unknown at this time, but is expected to be sometime in April.
