Muskegon County - East Side Water Main Replacements

This will likely be our last update for this project. As of now all roadways are paved, restoration has been completed on Densmore, East and Center. Ongoing site clean up will continue into the next week on West. We thank you for your patience throughout this project!

Work Completed on West

• The top course of asphalt was installed as well as asphalt driveways.

Anticipated Work on West

• Gravel shoulder and gravel driveways will be installed on both sides of the roadway.
• Spreading of topsoil and seed

It has been a while since our last update. Since then, the focus has been on reconstructing West Street.

Work Completed on West

• The first course of pavement was installed.
• Concrete drives were installed.

Work Completed on Center

• Topsoil and cleanup was completed.

Anticipated Work on West

• Paving of the top course of asphalt.
• Spreading of topsoil.
• Following paving the aggregate shoulders will be placed.

Road rebuilding is the main focus right now with paving on Center and spreading aggregate on West.

• Sand grad was cut and aggregate is begin placed working south from Apple Avenue.

• Final paving was completed.
• Gravel shoulder installation was started.

• Final restoration work.

• Grading and compaction of sand in preparation of gravel installation.
• Gravel installation for the east lane.
• Crushing the west lane and grading both lanes for the new roadway

This week marked the end of underground work for the project with completion of the water services and water main on West Street. Paving of the top course of asphalt is scheduled for this Saturday morning June 8 at 7:30.

• Water service installation was completed.
• Final connection was made to the water system at Southland, all water main work is complete.

• Concrete drive approaches were poured, and asphalt approaches were prepared.
• Topsoil spreading and site clean-up continued.
• Top course of asphalt is scheduled this Saturday June 8 at 7:30!

Anticipated Work on Center

• Asphalt drives will be paved weather dependent.

This week road rebuilding continued on Center Street and water service replacements started again on West.

• Aggregate placement was completed.
• The first course of asphalt was placed on the east side of the road.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Preparation for top course will continue with site clean-up, concrete drive preparation, and placement of topsoil.
• Paving of the final course of asphalt possibly near the end of the week.
• Concrete drive installation is scheduled for mid week.

Anticipated Work on West

• Water service replacements will continue until mid week.
• Final connection of the water main at Southland.

This week the focus was on road rebuilding on Center Street.

• The new water main was connected at Vine Street.

Work Completed This Week on Center

• Road rebuilding continued with aggregate placement over the entire length.
• Curb and gutter was installed at the intersections.
• Milling of the south bound lane was completed.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Final grading will be completed on Tuesday.
• Paving of the first course of asphalt is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29.
• Preparation for drives, spreading topsoil and structure adjustments will follow paving.

Anticipated Work on West

• Water service replacements will start up again on Thursday.

This week the focus was on water service installations, road rebuilding and water main connections. Road building started on Center Street with cutting for sand grade and placing aggregate. West Street focus was on water services and connecting the main to the system. Utility work is nearly complete!

• All water main has now been tested and connected to the system. Connections were made at Oak Park on Friday.
• Water service installation continued north of Vine.

Work Completed This Week on Center

• Road rebuilding has begun grading for gravel placement. Gravel is being placed as the crews progress south.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Continuing on reconstruction of the roadway.

Anticipated Work on West

• Water service replacements will continue north of Vine and will start south of Vine.
• Water main connections are schedule for Monday on Vine.

This week the focus was on water service installations and restoration. Densmore and East Street restoration is now complete less minor clean up items. No work was completed on Center Street but work will be starting there again this coming week.

• Water testing was begun on the water main south of Vine and will continue into the next week.
• Water service installation north Vine started and good progress was made.

Work Completed This Week on East and Densmore

• Final topsoil spreading, raking and seeding was completed.
• Water meter pit installation was completed on East Street.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Reconstruction of the roadway will begin on Monday. This will take approximately 2 weeks to complete.

Anticipated Work on West

• Water service replacements will be the primary focus this week.
• Testing of the water main south of Vine will be completed.

Underground work is now complete on Center Street! Underground work continues on West with water main installation and water services will begin soon.

Work Completed This Week on West

• Water main installation was completed to the project limit less final connections. The water main is now fully installed and active from Apple Avenue to Vine Street. Final testing is ongoing for the water main from Vine to Southland.

Anticipated Work on Center

• Reconstruction of the roadway may begin near the end of the week.

• Water service replacements will be the primary focus this week.
• Testing of the water main south of Vine will be completed.

Anticipated Work on East and Densmore

• Spreading and raking of topsoil on East Street and Densmore will begin in preparation of final seeding.

Underground work is now complete on Center Street! Underground work continues on West with water main installation and water services will begin soon.
