Charter Township of Texas - Eagle Lake & Crooked Lake: Lake Level Control

Important Information

This project is designed to control the lake levels of Eagle Lake and Crooked Lake by means of two lakebed intake beds, two pumping stations, 3,724 linear feet of force main, and a filter building with mechanical filters.

Tentative Project Schedule:

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) of pipe at the east end of Crooked Lake: week of September 11, 2023
  • Filter building construction: mid-September
  • Dredging of the lakes for filter beds: October and November
  • Piping work from Eagle Lake to Crooked Lake: spring of 2024
  • Project completion: July 1, 2024

There will be times in the spring of 2024 where residents along West PQ Avenue and the easterly end of West Crooked Lake Drive will have the area in front of your homes torn up. You will have limited access to your home for a very brief period of possibly several hours. Please let us know if you have any special access needs and we will do our best to make arrangements with you.

The backwash manhole was installed yesterday, which will connect to the 4-inch backwash pipe.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Construction of the outlet will continue, weather permitting.
  • The crew anticipates directionally drilling the 4-inch backwash pipe and 1-inch conduits this week.

Ice & water shield was installed on the filter building roof last week. Work has paused due to this week’s low temperatures.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Construction of the outlet will continue, weather permitting.
  • The crew has begun to fuse the 4 inch backwash pipe which will be directionally drilled.

Work at the filter building is ongoing.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Installation of sheathing on gable ends and ice & water shield is anticipated this week.

Work at the filter building is ongoing. The bond beam was completed last week.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Filter building roof trusses and roof deck are anticipated this week.

Infiltration piping has been installed and sand backfilling has been completed at Eagle Lake. Please continue to be alert for construction vehicles.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • The dredging crew is moving their equipment off-site at Eagle Lake and 6th Street Park.
  • Work at the filter building is ongoing. Roof trusses are anticipated later this week.

Precast planks have been placed at the filter building. Dredging was completed yesterday at Eagle Lake. The dredging contractor will place sand for the infiltration system. Please continue to be alert for construction vehicles.

 

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Sand placement for the infiltration system at Eagle Lake.
  • The Eagle Lake infiltration system piping will be assembled.
  • Continued construction at the filter building.

Masonry is completed. Dredging at Eagle Lake starts today. There will be trucks driving on Aquaview Drive and Heritage Drive to transport dredged material. Please be alert for construction vehicles.

 

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Precast planks for the filter building are scheduled to be placed on Thursday.

Masonry has begun at the filter building.

  • Precast planks for the filter building are scheduled to be delivered on Monday.
  • Equipment has been moved to Eagle Lake. Dredging in Eagle Lake may start next week.

Dredging in Crooked Lake is complete. The Crooked Lake ramp is open for boat traffic. The contractor is working on final touch-ups at the ramp.

 

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Filter building masonry is expected to begin this week.
  • Equipment has been moved to Eagle Lake. Dredging in Eagle Lake may start next week.

The dredging crew plans to finish sand backfilling in Crooked Lake this week. Thank you for your patience as the Crooked Lake ramp will be unable to accommodate boat traffic during the transportation of sand for backfilling.

 

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Filter building masonry is upcoming.
  • Once the dredging crew is finished in Crooked Lake, they plan to start working in Eagle Lake – possibly late this week or next week.
