Important Information

This project is designed to control the lake levels of Eagle Lake and Crooked Lake by means of two lakebed intake beds, two pumping stations, 3,724 linear feet of force main, and a filter building with mechanical filters.

Tentative Project Schedule:

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) of pipe at the east end of Crooked Lake: week of September 11, 2023
  • Filter building construction: mid-September
  • Dredging of the lakes for filter beds: October and November
  • Piping work from Eagle Lake to Crooked Lake: spring of 2024
  • Project completion: July 1, 2024

There will be times in the spring of 2024 where residents along West PQ Avenue and the easterly end of West Crooked Lake Drive will have the area in front of your homes torn up. You will have limited access to your home for a very brief period of possibly several hours. Please let us know if you have any special access needs and we will do our best to make arrangements with you.

Contact any project representative if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to a successful project in your area!

This week, they anticipate installing the 12-inch pipe from the filter station to the outlet point:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, they anticipate digging the exit hole and reaming out the borehole to make room for the pipe.
  • If all goes well, they may pull the pipe through the borehole yet this week.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) of pipe at the east end of Crooked Lake has begun. Last week, the drilling subcontractor set up on-site to begin directional drilling from Crooked Lake to the proposed filter station.

This week, they anticipate installing the 12-inch pipe:

  • Monday, they completed the pilot hole.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, they anticipate digging the exit hole and reaming out the borehole to make room for the pipe.
  • Friday morning, they will pull the pipe through the borehole.

Thank you for your patience as the Crooked Lake ramp will be used for about 15 minutes sometime between 7-9am on Friday, September 15 to float the pipe onto the lake and to the project site. The pipe will continue to be floated on Friday until it is fully installed. The contractor will properly flag and monitor its location to ensure no conflicts with boating traffic.

The contract was awarded to Balkema Excavating, and they are busy preparing and submitting shop drawings for the project. Shop drawings are a means by which we can confirm that the contractor will be providing the proper materials and equipment specified in the contract.

Upcoming Schedule:

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) of pipe at the east end of Crooked Lake will begin the week of September 7, 2023. This work will take approximately a week. There will be short period of time where the pipe to be installed will be floated in the lake. The contractor will properly flag and monitor its location to ensure no conflicts with boating traffic.
  • Filter building construction will begin with footings and foundation mid-September.
  • Dredging of the lakes for the filter beds is currently scheduled for October and November.
  • Piping work form Eagle Lake to Crooked Lake is scheduled for the spring of 2024.
  • Project completion will be by July 1, 2024.
