Progress Report: K&R made approximately 300′ of progress with sanitary sewer construction to the north. Pipe Installation is approximately to 400′ south of Court St.

Upcoming Work: K&R will continue sanitary sewer construction progressing to the north. K&R may also start storm sewer construction on River Street in the area where sanitary sewer construction has been completed.

Extra Notes:

During sanitary sewer construction, River Street will be blocked off for through access at the location of the sanitary sewer excavation. As sewer construction continues north, the direction of access to each property will be affected and will change with the progress of construction. Vehicles will have to access their property from either O’Malley or Randall Ave.

Driveway access to River Village and The Meadows is expected to be impacted next week. K&R has constructed a temporary gravel driveway between the parking lots of the two communities. Access to the complexes will be maintained utilizing either entrance, depending on which one is affected by sanitary sewer installation.

Work completed so far:

  • New Water main pipe has been installed on the east side of Warner near the sidewalk from Slocum south to Alice Street
  • New Water Main has been tested and we are awaiting results of the disinfection tests
  • Driveways approaches south of Muskegon Avenue on the east side Warner are being removed in preparation for the next leg of water main installation

What to expect week of April 22, 2024:

  • Connection of the new water main to the existing system – This will likely take place at Slocum and Warner to energize the new water main.
  • Water Services will begin to be cut over to the new water main between Alice and Slocum
  • Water Main connections will take place at Sophia and Warner and then at Alice and Warner

What to expect week of April 29, 2024:

  • Complete any remaining connections to the new water main between Alice and Slocum
  • Begin new water main installation between Muskegon Avenue and Benston Street on the east side of Warner Street

Please note: When water is shut off for water main connections – the water is safe to drink!  However, it may be discolored after water is restored. This is due to rust in the old water system or from internal plumbing pipes getting dislodged and entering the water. To flush any discolored water, it is recommended to flush COLD water from a bath tub or outside spigot – any tap that does not have an aerator that may trap any particles. It is also a good idea to remove and clean aerators periodically, especially after nearby water main construction. If the water is cloudy, this is due to air in the line and it will return to normal after a few minutes.

Progress Report: The Contractor continued restoration efforts on the Grant Avenue intersection. The Contractor also started to set up traffic control and detour for the closure of Ferry Street between Taylor Ave and Grant Ave starting next week. The dewatering system was installed and the west lane of Ferry Street was removed from Grant Avenue to Taylor Avenue to prepare for water main installation to the south.

Upcoming Work: The Contractor will remove curb and gutter and driveways on the west side of Ferry Street next week starting from Grant Avenue and working south to Taylor Avenue. Starting early next week the Contractor will continue progress with water main construction to the south. Asphalt crews will be on site early to mid next week to install asphalt on the Grant Avenue intersection.

Extra Notes: Residents and motorists are reminded to stay clear of construction equipment and excavations on the project site. As water main construction continues south, access to each property will be affected and will change with the progress of construction.

Upcoming Work: The second Pipestone Road closure is scheduled to begin April 22. Pipestone Road will be closed to through traffic from Napier Ave to Mall Drive, with a detour following Napier Ave, Plaza Drive, and Mall Drive, as illustrated on the map above. Pipestone Road will be fully closed at the work area located near the Meijer Gas Station. Residences and businesses north and south of the work area, including the Meijer Gas Station, will remain accessible. This traffic closure is scheduled from April 22 through May 17 for the installation of gravity sewer within the Pipestone Road work area.
